18. The "President is impotent" defense again. It's so tiresome...
If the Presidency is so weak, then it really doesn't matter who is living in the White House.

Whatever happened to "Yes we can"?

22. Isnt that kinda the point
of going to the people? The call to action? To get the people to make the votes to get what he feels is right done?

Otherwise he could have skipped going out tonight, and just made a deal based on what the numbers in congress will already allow.

12. This speech was for the centrist voters in this country and those who haven't been paying attention.
DU got the Obama we all wanted in that presser on Friday when he came swinging the sledge hammer against the GOP while he was fresh with emotion and ready to knock heads. That's never an Obama we'll hear on a primetime address.

20. When the Obama rubber stampers are bashing Mrs. Harris-Perry...
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 09:35 PM by blueclown
You know that they have flew off the deep end. President Obama is going to be criticized at times, and those criticisms are going to be valid, and the Obama rubber stampers are going to have to deal with it. Obama is not right 100% of the time. Let me remind of you of Harris-Perry's history. She does not belong to the Jane Hamsher and Arrianna Huffington part of the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. In fact, she's been one of the President's biggest supporters. But where she is different from the Obama rubber stampers is that she actually believes in something other than rubber-stamping the President's agenda. She thinks for herself. You will just have to deal with it. It is absolutely absurd to suggest that there is an agenda on MSNBC of all places to bash the President.

26. And there will be occasions where MHP is wrong and the President and his supporters are right
To your point, I agree that MHP does not take marching orders from MSNBC higher-ups, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some talking points floating around the MSNBC hallways for anchors and hosts to peruse. So much of the content from day-time MSNBC chattering heads sound too much alike not to be a 'shared' opinion.

28. It's simply absurd to state that MHP is getting talking points from MSNBC.
MHP may be wrong and President Obama's supporters may be right at times, but certainly not this time. Melissa Harris-Perry has been one of President Obama's biggest supporters.

Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 05:18 PM by Supersedeas
MHP may be wrong...yes (already stated)

Obama supporters may be right...yes (already stated)

But not this time....dunno (subject to debate)

MHP has been a BO supporter...true (at least sometimes) -- "has been" suggest that she was but is not longer...dunno if I'd go so far as that...
