It's true that Obama's maneuvering has strengthened his hand and popularity in this budget debate
and that's a great advantage.

but are the things we care about going to be better off as a result or worse?

because if they aren't, then what was the point of the grand deal and the slick maneuvering?

1. For the record...
Obama has never been popular with me and never will be.

i just don't see the point in him gaining an upper hand in negotiations
only to agree to get shafted on Medicare and Social Security.

i mean. :wtf:

4. I swear, I thought when McConnell, et al, got the word
from Wall Street, we had it made. I am so baffled why we didn't take advantage of that moment. Or it doesn't appear we did, anyway.

Sigh.

6. Depends on what the deal ultimately is. We don't really know yet.
I think that will determine who will and will not be a supporter.

Could be better than we fear, could be worse, but we just don't know yet.

5. You know, lest ANYONE forget
Some, it seems, would rather be caught dead than be perceived as remotely liking this President or anything he's done, so it's best to be on the record!

10. there's a very good reason Obama is unpopular here,
even though everyone on DU voted for him. That should tell you something. The problem is him, not DUers.

11. Bullshit will only take you so far.
Sooner or later the things that are actually done or not done will control the course of events. Being effective in a losing or foolish cause will not save your ass.
