Obama needs to go all Harry Truman on the GOP.
The RW has put this country in an incredibly precarious position. Having done so they and their stenographers in the media will work overtime blaming the Democrats. The next months will be incredibly dangerous politically for Liberals and economically for the country and the world. I am an ardent supporter of the President and pray that he is up to the challenge.

11. his model is reagan. you have to have a passion for suffering
to be a FDR or Truman and he doesn't. witness keeping Geithner to make sure that there is years of it.

2. The blame should be put firmly on the shoulders of the Republicans
they have acted irresponsibly.

3. I would like to see him do that, but ....
I don't see it happening because he is a very cautious politician. I don't consider that to be a negative as many on here do. I knew from the beginning that he was an intellectual and that is how he is behaving. I think that other Democrats need step up the rhetoric and "go all Harry Truman on the GOP."

4. Unrec Alert
This is the second thread in GDP that had one less rec when I clicked than it had on the front page. I have recced this and the other thread, but just wanted to let you know somebody is either trolling or throwing a hissy fit.

5. He might, if he wasn't already in bed with their philosophy. You're seeing nothing more than
some good-cop bad-cop kabuki theater being played out.

6. That is not his leadeship style...
Everything he has done shows that he prefers to negotiate solutions, and isn't concerned with the details as long as he finds a solution.

If We wanted Harry Truman, we should not have elected Dewey.

8. Don't hold your breath.
President Obama is from the cordially seek to cooperate, shake hands & smile across the aisle school, not the bully pulpit, give 'em hell & kick 'em in the balls school.

Obama is the weakest Democratic President of the past 100 years.

12. How did Harry Truman do in terms of legislative accomplishments?
As I recall we never got that universal health care he talked a lot about, but we did get the Taft-Hartley Act because he was so unpopular in 1946 that the Republicans won enough seats to override his veto.
