Of the candidates invited to the debate, only Herman Cain and Rep. Ron Paul opposed a federal marriage amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Cain said the matter should be left up to the states, while Paul held a libertarian view and argued that government should not be in the business of marriage.

The candidates took an equally regressive stance on repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” which Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a Monday interview with the AP could be formally certified by the time he leaves office on June 30: The same group of debate participants who called for a federal marriage amendment also voiced support for keeping the ban on open service in the armed forces.

4. Talk about being right for the wrong reasons.
They should be in favor because it's a human right.

7. No, they're wrong for the wrong reasons. I think you misread that.
They support a constitutional BAN on gay marriage (or marriage equality).

8. And God, don't forget the invisible sky-father!
So, that makes it a partnership between a man, a woman, and God.

Now, since they all envision God to be male, doesn't that make it a ménage à trois, with two dudes? Would that explode a few fundie heads???!!!

12. A strategy needs to be implemented to counter Republican stragegy on gays.
For instance...

if same sex marriages are not permitted for gays and lesbians

then how many women will marry gay men and reduce the available single women for straight men?

how many men will marry lesbians and reduce the available single men for straight women?

OR

how many will waste time wooing the opposite sex only to find out they are not interested in the opposite sex?

OR

how many gays or lesbians will "corrupt" Republicans by marrying them because they aren't permitted their loved ones?
