While everyone has been giggling about weiners... 4 dead US soldiers this week
Joshua B. McDaniels of Dublin, Oh died on June 12th in Afghanistnam.

Ryan J. Larson of Friendship, Wi died on June 15th in Afghanistnam.

Eric D. Soufrine of Woodbridge, Ct died on June 14th in Afghanistnam.

Mark A. Bradley of Cuba, NY died on June 16th in Afghanistnam.

These are real people. Real people who probably believed 2 1/2 years ago that ending a war meant coming home. This nation will NEVER be the same as long as we have our youth dying for no reason on foreign land.

1. Agree with you. And, what 's with the U.S. spending a king's ransom
to build the largest embassy in the world in Iraq? There's a budget item that can be brought down to reality.

2. Ryan J. Larson, 19
FRIENDSHIP -- While he attended Adams-Friendship High School, Ryan J. Larson was a dynamic student who wanted to help people, one of his former coaches said.

Larson, a 19-year-old Army private, died Wednesday in the southern province of Kandahar, Afghanistan, because of injuries from an improvised explosive device, officials announced Thursday.

<snip>

Larson played trumpet in the high school band, said Timothy Hodkiewicz, Adams-Friendship High School principal. He was class president and was on the honor roll all four years in high school.

Larson was a member of the wrestling team when it won four straight South Central Conference championships, Hodkiewicz said. He also played baseball.

Like Norton, Hodkiewicz wasn't surprised Larson decided to join the Army after graduation.

Larson's mother and grandparents were on their way Thursday to Dover Air Force Base, Del., where Larson's body will be taken, Hodkiewicz said. Members of the community and school are waiting to hear from them to learn what the family's requests are for memorial services.

3. Shout out for the soldiers in the Class War.
99% of them attended high schoool, too.

Their only weapon a coin(or, more likely, the lack thereof).

4. I love how these threads disappear in a sea of crickets...
to open up space for threads about Michelle's toned arms, Obama's NCAA brackets and Weiner's weiner.

5. When you die militarily, you signed a paper.
When you die civilianlly, at much more massive numbers, you didn't.

A possible thread-disapppearance-in-sea-of-crickets explanation.

6. lame.
So a guy who joins the Army to be a computer tech and move out of his farm town of 1300 is allowed to die because he signed a paper? Lame.

7. unless bush is running the war -- and then most democrats scream far and wide --
when a democrat is running the war -- many democrats suddenly shut up and aren't so anti war any more.

being a partisan trumps being anti-war apparently.

pretty smelly pile of hypocrisy there.

12. Don't have any idea of what you're going on about.
If you think I support our current wars or have shut up about this administration's hugely disappointing policies, you're mistaken.

11. EIGHT soldiers killed on Saturday

and when the story says "NATO service members," more than likely it means from the U.S. military.

--------- buried in an AP story about an attack on a German convoy -----------------

On Saturday, insurgent suicide attackers struck a police station in the capital, killing nine people including five civilians before they were eventually gunned down.

Eight NATO service members were killed in Afghanistan the same day. Four died in fighting in the south and east, while another four died in a vehicle accident in the south.

15. NATO designation doesn't matter.
Even if they are our allies who perished, they are there because of us.

Thanks for posting.
