INDIANAPOLIS - A politician with a familiar name may jump into next year's congressional elections, challenging long-time U.S. Representative Dan Burton.
Eyewitness News has learned that former 6th District Congressman David McIntosh is giving serious consideration to getting into the race to face Burton. The last we heard from McIntosh was his unsuccessful bid for governor, losing to Frank O'Bannon in 2000.
Before that, McIntosh served three terms in the 6th District, which is currently represented by Mike Pence. He's considering a run in the 5th District because of redistricting. McIntosh has rented a home in Pendleton for the last five years, which has been redistricted into the 5th District.
Dr. John McGoff has already announced his intention to run, as well, which means the field could be just as crowded this year as last time, which may be something McIntosh will have to consider when he eventually makes his decision.
