President Obama. Please direct that ruthless efficiency politically to the GOP and the Oligarchs
Edited on Fri May-13-11 10:20 AM by Armstead
No I am not suggesting that President Obama send a Seal team after them.

But it would sure be great if he would take that same tough, smart and ruthless spirit that he used to get bin Laden and apply it politically and in governing to put the GOP in their place and to loosen the stranglehold that Corporate Greedheads and other Oligarchs have over our nation.

He has shown us that he's got it in him. He didn't negotiate with bin Laden or try to compromise with someone who obviously doesn't have any sense of compromise.

It would be so great if he would channel that politically into defeating those who are undermining America from within.

3. Sadly...Obama doesn't have a Dem who follow orders like his military. And he has less of them now.
That being said...it's not really workable to ask for the same possibilities. Actually it's impossible. When the House is infested with DOMINATING rethugs and the Repubs in the Senate can filibuster us to oblivion.

You're creating a false equivalence. Now if he had an over 60 majority of Dems in the Senate and Dominating Dem in the House---then any stray dems can be put to heel. This sort of scenario is unworkable.

4. I realize it's a false equivalence
Edited on Fri May-13-11 03:51 PM by Armstead
The only equivalency in terms of bin Laden is that President Obama showed himself capable of doing something bold and courageous, and willing to take a big risk.

Without going over too much old history, in my opinion, the problem is that Obama did not apply himself to really start the ball rolling for progressive reform. Instead, he kowtowed more the intransigent GOP and the conServadems, rather than unifying with the more liberal and progressive democrats to gain real ground.

I would simply like to see him take that same fighting spirit he used against bin Laden into the political realm.

5. Maybe he's been actually working on it for awhile
He certainly never let on that he was keen on finding Bin Ladin. It came as a huge surprise.

He does things like that. Patiently waits without giving an an inkling of what he's thinking, then moves quickly. Bill Maher is right. he's a Ninja President.

6. you have no chance of correcting anything
If you don't play the game. I think he is fighting the battles, quietly. In this media circus, that's smart.

8. Personally I think he ought to fight the battles clearly
How long are liberals going to continue to avoid inaction because of what the bogeyman if the media will say?

7. I wish they had the same fire for single payer
Edited on Fri May-13-11 06:17 PM by LatteLibertine
As far as Goldman Sachs and Wall Street goes, the problem is, they are giving wheelbarrows full of cash to the Democratic Party as well.

They gave a good deal to President Obama.

I'd still take him over anyone in the GOP any day of the week, though. The GOP are completely shameless in their servitude to the most wealthy.

9. I'd take him over the GOP anyway too.
But I still wish he would apply the same fire to real reforms of healthcare, Wall St. And all the rest that he proved he has in dealing with Osama.

10. Oh, another war on a nebulous boogyman concept!
Why stop with a war on drugs, and a war on terror, lets add a war on oligarchy!
