Big bump for '60 Minutes' with Obama
President's sit-down averages 13.8 million total viewers

"60 Minutes" landed a big scoop with President Barack Obama's first interview after the killing of Osama bin Laden, and it delivered a big audience.

"Minutes" averaged 13.8 million total viewers at 7 p.m. last night, according to Nielsen overnights, up 29 percent over the 10.7 million who tuned in last week.

The interview was easily Sunday night's most-watched show on broadcast, with the No. 2 program, ABC's "Desperate Housewives," drawing about 4 million fewer viewers.

It marked Obama's first sit-down since announcing that a team of Navy SEALs had killed the terrorist leader bin Laden one week earlier. Since then interest in the death has run high, with bin Laden-related stories filling 89 percent of the mainstream media newshole during the beginning of last week.

2. I like the phrase "mainstream media newshole".
It seems appropriate somehow.

I can understand why Obama keeps coming back to Steve Kroft... No crap to deal with.

5. One of my favorite parts
Kroft: Were you nervous?
The President: Yeah.

No bluster, no false pride, no machismo. :applause:

10. I loved how he was so straight forward.
No apologies. No mention of Bush.

Loved when he said that anyone who doesn't think OBL should have been killed should have their heads examined.

and, of course, he wasn't reading off a teleprompter (like most Repubs. say he can't speak without).

12. The only polls that matter are elections
Results like that posted in the OP serve only to show how fluid public opinion is, and how easily it is influenced by television.
