It’s Official: Wasserman Schultz Is New Democratic Chief
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR

WASHINGTON — Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida officially became the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee on Wednesday.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz, who was picked by President Obama to lead the Democratic Party during his re-election effort, was ratified unanimously by the full committee, making her the second woman elected by the organization.

Shortly after the vote, Ms. Wasserman Schultz said in a Twitter message that she was “honored and humbled to receive the gavel at the DNC. Together, we will win the future.”

Ms. Wasserman Schultz replaces Tim Kaine, the former governor of Virginia, who is running for the Senate.

1. Wasserman Schultz wins DNC job
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was unanimously approved to lead the Democratic National Committee

<snip>

"Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz took the helm of the national Democratic party Wednesday, pledging to "work every single day” to re-elect President Barack Obama and Democrats up and down the ballot.

"We must trumpet President Obama’s agenda from the rooftops,” said Wasserman Schultz, 44, who becomes the fourth female DNC chair and the first female DNC chair to be nominated by a sitting president. "We must make sure that our friends, our neighbors, and everyone in our communities sees that President Obama and Democrats are delivering on the kind of change that is making America stronger."

Obama called into the meeting from the White House to thank attendees for voting unanimously to put the Broward congresswoman at the top of the party.

"I am reminded of something that Michelle said: ‘If you need something important done, give it to a busy woman," Obama said to cheers from the audience. "I’m absolutely positive she is the right person for the moment, not only because she has got great strategic sense, not only because she has unbelievable energy but she embodies the core values of what we cherish as Democrats and as Americans."

3. I am less happy with this than I was about the death of Bin Laden.
That is all we need,
another "Centrist" in charge of the DNC.
I guess they really couldn't offer the job to Blanche Lincoln.

5. This is a bad sign.
*sigh*

I mean, really? This is the best we can do?

How about a real progressive instead of a grandstanding blue dog?

I'm aware of her life story, and she deserves credit for overcoming cancer and all the rest, but I just don't think she's right for DNC chair. Howard Dean's fifty-state strategy worked. I don't see that kind of thing happening under a Wasserman-Schultz DNC.

I hope I'm wrong. I don't think I am.

6. That's pretty much the message I sent back to the DNC when they sent me an
e-mail asking for a donation.

I stated that I would start giving to them when they stopped giving to the right.

8. Kudos to her, it's a crap job that somebody has to do
As if sitting in a room making phone calls to build your own warchest wasn't bad enough, now you get to do it for an entire party.

If Wasserman Schultz was influential her state wouldn't have been turning so darned red!
