The wars have been very good for their bottom line. CNN was positively EUPHORIC at their ratings and revenues that first weekend of shock and awe so many years ago. When we get too much of a lull, we go start a little undeclared shit somewhere else to keep it all flowing.

I would love to hope, too, but I don't. DC establishment and Wall Street have become very, very accustomed to their conceptual WOT narcotic and the increasingly comfortable way of life it's afforded them these long years.

While this is badge of American triumph, I think it smacks too much of cage wrestling mentality. One arguably evil person's demise should NOT be the spark for revelry that we're seeing. "Closure" - for the survivors of 9/11??? Really? They've been holding up their lives and their breath for a decade, and now it's back to living???
I caught a snip of some of the celebration in front of the White House last night - the crowd singing "God Bless America". Reaffirmation that this is percieved as a cage fight of gods. "Ours" scored a round this weekend. And yet..... we have an ex-president living in relative freedom who invoked America's god to justify the killing of many more innocents than Bin Laden killed - the obvious goal of which was feeding gluttonous US corporations and hoping to corner foreign oil reserves.
So.... who's more evil? Is it the sneak attack gang or the bunch that says: "Hey! We're the biggest swingin' dick on the block an we're gonna blow the living shit out of you. Better'n that - you're gonna LOVE us for it and volunteer to pay for it all by giving us your oil to make money off of!" Heh - appearantly, that boastful memo never found it's way to the appropriate authorities in Iraq.

I know it sounds counter to all the glee of the moment, but there's ALOT of wealthy folks that owe their fruitfulness to Bin Laden. I have to wonder if any of them secretly appreciate that.

As far as "winning the war on terrorism" - so long as there's one crazy to toss a string of firecrakers into a crowd, terrorism survives.
