Housing starts accelerate in November

By Alejandro Lazo

December 16, 2009 | 8:24 a.m.

Home builders broke ground on new residences at a faster clip in November, a positive sign for the housing market and the residential real estate industry.

Housing starts rose 8.9% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 574,000 units from the prior month, the Commerce Department reported this morning. That figure represented a 12.4% decline from November 2008.

1. I remember during that first press briefing...
... the President gave. Chuck Todd asked him "how would Americans know if the economy is improving" .... and he told us to watch the housing numbers.

More good news.
