Huckabee's end run around the GOP/RNC
Edited on Fri Mar-04-11 08:10 PM by underpants
he won handily amongst Southern Republicans and followed it by praising Michelle Obama's food and health initiatives and saying that President Obama is a "family values" guy.

He is trying to make and end run around corralling the rightwing base (Palin, Newt) and showing the GOP/RNC that he CAN court the middle and make a run at Obama. They know full well that none of their likely candidates can do that.

He starts with the base of the "Party of the South" and adds that he can draw the middle.

They can sell anything (long list of marketed products) he is trying to show them that he is a Snuggie ripoff that can pull in some of the market. Put him on TV and have the talking heads sell him and he can win.

That is what he is doing.

He, of course, needs money (something Haley Barbour can provide to Newt) but if he can show that he can WIN the money will follow. Look at W, the first question all of the big money sponsors asked was, "Will he embarass us?" they were assured that with Rove controlling him and later with Cheney as the man in charge that he wouldn't. That's how things work...or don't in W's case.

2. But his innate laziness will do him in. He loves raising money but, has little
desire to do the work. He'll win a few early primaries and disappear down the stretch. Someone here described him as a glib liar. That description is perfect.

3. He may not have the enthusiasm to run at all
Huckabee probably doesn't want to give up his Fox show, and he has little time left to make a decision.

4. I think he'll run just for fund raising purposes or to ruin Romney's chances.
He can probably put his show on hiatus since Fox is ethically challenged..

5. His Fox Show is buried. He only has a show to be interviewed on other shows
because we live in an age where news personalities interview news personalities :eyes:

not only does it add volume to the choir it also saves on cost (see the American MSM being exposed in Egypt)
