ADP Report: Private-sector employment increased by 217,000 from January to February
Private-sector employment increased by 217,000 from January to February on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the latest ADP National Employment Report® released today. The estimated change of employment from December 2010 to January 2011 was revised up to 189,000 from the previously reported increase of 187,000.

This month’s ADP National Employment Report suggests continued solid growth of nonfarm private employment early in 2011. The recent pattern of rising employment gains since the middle of last year was reinforced by today’s report, as the average gain from December through February (217,000) is well above the average gain over the prior six months (63,000).

2. You need about double that number each month to get the
unemployment rate down significantly.

3. "unemployment rate down significantly."
Double it (434,000)? Yeah, to bring unemployment down to 5 percent by the end 2012.

Still, ADP lost a little luster after its last report.

5. 8 yrs. of BushCo economic malfeisance will take more than 2 yrs. of Obama recovery to make up.
Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 11:17 PM by ClarkUSA
Many many millions of jobs were lost, with 700K/mo. being lost in the months prior to BushCo's reign ending. Things are better now in terms of numbers of jobs lost and gained monthly but no credible economist expects miracles given it's already a bit of a miracle Team Obama guided this country out of the Great Depression as quickly as they did into a slow but sustained recovery that will go on for years.

15. Not really.
If that number was doubled we would see about 8 million jobs before the election , replacing far more than was lost in the entire crash.

If we maintain 200,000 we would see about 4 million, a goal we can reach.

Lookin good, steady as she goes.

9. Wow! And the number of "underemployed" dropped to 15.9 percent, the lowest in almost 2 years.
Edited on Fri Mar-04-11 01:37 PM by ClarkUSA
The unemployment rate is now at the lowest point since April 2009. It has been falling for three months, down from 9.8 percent in November, marking the sharpest three-month decline since 1983...

When factoring in the number of part-time workers who would rather be working full time and those who have given up looking for work, the percentage of "underemployed" people dropped to 15.9 percent in February. That's the lowest in nearly two years.

The positive news on the hiring front comes as the larger economy is gaining momentum...

The number of "long-term" unemployed, people out of work six months or more, sank to 5.99 million, a decline of 217,000 from January.

14. According to Salon, Friday morning's jobs report is the best report in three years.
"... every major economic indicator has looked better in the past few months. New claims for unemployment benefits are dropping. The stock market is headed up, making people feel a bit wealthier. Companies are advertising more positions. Business and consumer confidence is up. Corporate profits are at all-time highs, meaning America's businesses have plenty of capacity to hire. Domestic manufacturing expanded for the 19th consecutive month in February. Gross domestic product continues to rise, and global demand continues to increase."

16. How many of those 217,000 are low-paying Mcjobs?
I would venture to guess around half or more.
