How will the American electorate respond to mandates and huge
Medicare cuts? Will subsidies be substantial enough? Will this legislation weaken health care coverage like mine, which is quite good and which I get through the state? What are the "teeth" for compliance of the insurance companies? Are there loopholes that will allow insurance companies to still discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions. Is it equitable that people should have to pay 27% of their incomes to private insurance companies? Will people have to choose between necessities and purchasing health care coverage?

Just some of the questions I've been thinking about and researching.

1. Dean mentioned something about preexisting conditions.

While you are researching this, I thought I would include the link to the video here for you.

He said something to the effect that the way this bill is written, insurance companies might be required to cover someone with a preexisting condition, but they can charge 3 times more for the coverage.

Now would be a good time to have a research forum for the HCR bill here on DU.

If you do decide to propose that idea to admins, you have a vote here, if you'll let me know.

2. I believe he said that they can charge older people up to 3x
what they charge younger people. That in itself means that they'll be charging far more for coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.

3. Dean is going to go under attack in the next week for telling the truth
and Barack Obama is going to be ordering the hit. Look for the usual suspects to run their hit pieces. Just like they did on Dennis a month ago.

4. Sure. But Dean's a little harder to marginalize on this issue than Dennis.

5. The attacks will be twice as extreme
I expect some prolific posters on here to do all that they can to discredit him.
