Both parties are the same. Wrong!
To quote RandySF:

To America: Don't blame me, I voted Democratic

That's all I can say from blue California. We voted for sanity, the rest of the country elected the Walking Dead. And should anyone be shocked when a zombie acts like a zombie? They want to put targets on the backs of doctors in South Dakota. They are trying to outlaw abortion in IA. They killed kill high-speed rail jobs in FL, OH and WI and take away collective bargaining rights in WI. Oh, and let's not forget that the brilliant Gov. of Florida wants to slash education while doubling his office's expense account. I'm going to hunker down for the next couple of years and watch the horror show playing out everywhere else, with my finger at Democrats who stayed home and so-called "independents" who voted Republican and say "I told you so".

Period.

1. Somehow "I told you so" doesn't cut it for me.
It seems my state of Fl. needs to be destroyed before it can be rebuilt , these people need to learn a lesson , there are consequences.

2. Its the so-called independents who lack many brain cells.. They are
able to vacillate from one party to another at the drop of a hat for some hot button issue that doesn't, even, affect them.

8. I am one of those Independents
And as far as I know, my brain cells are all there. I'm sick of that old canard that Independents don't stand for anything, or vacillate back and forth. In my case, it's simply not true. I know many Independents, some liberal, some conservative, and they always hold to their principles. We just don't like being connected to a party. They don't stand for us on everything. 40% of this country are so-called Independents. To say that all of us simply lack brain cells is just plain wrong!! We have hot button issues just like both parties do. We vote, and many times, decide elections.

3. Greatest Show on Earth!
Have you ever been to the circus? If not, you should! It is always an amazing experience.

One of my favorite things at any Circus are the clowns, and best of all is when you get a couple of them together. I love watching them chasing each other around, tripping and falling, bonking each other with rubber hammers, pies flying... it's hillarious!

But if you have never gone yourself, here's a tip:

It does not matter which clown is the "good" one and which one is the naughty one, they BOTH work for the same circus, both report to the same Ringmaster, the same guy signs both their checks. They are entertainers playing a role, partners in greasepaint. And when the spotlight and greasepaint comes off you would never be able to tell them apart.

If you want to see them yourself, just tune into CPAN.

elected officials shouldn't be compared to "clowns." When you do that, instead of a electing leaders, people get confused and elect clowns.

Oh, welcome to DU.

5. Implying Obama is the same as McCain isn't accurate.
Implying Gore would have invaded Iraq after 9-11 is downright absurd.

Stop the spin.

12. What?
Had McCain won you would today be saying, "Implying Obama would leave Gitmo open, extend and expand Patriot, abandon a public option, continue the wars, extend tax cuts for the rich, allow BP complete control over the gulf... that's just ABSURD! Obama would NEVER in a million years do those things you lying bastard!!!"

Except he did, because that is REALITY.

BOTH parties are funded by exactly the same industries and corporations. Oil funds both D's and R's. Defense funds D's and R's. Insurance funds D's and R's. Banking funds D's and R's. Medical funds D's and R's. Drug companies fund D's and R's. The big "indepent" lobbies? Who do you think funds the biggest environmental groups (insuring regulatory capture while grandfathering themselves in)?

You think Al Gore is a noble crusader operating independent of the money men? If he were, you would be saying "Al who?" Like everyone else at that level he does exactly what he is paid to do.

Yeah, Gore is no different from Bush, right?

What's "ABSURD" is that people are still making this bullshit argument after Bush's two terms.

How about these:

Tax cuts for the wealthy
War
Habeas Corpus
Economic advisers
Trade
Justice

On edit: No, not even close.
