1. Good! I am glad he is talking about it.
I hope it comes to fruition.

4. So is Dennis, as you probably know. I'm still in the "it's too early" school, but
I sure understand where you guys are coming from. :hi:

6. Yeah. I have no illusion that any primary opponent could mount
a serious challenge. But, I find much value in someone on the left distinguishing issue positions between this Administration and true liberalism.:hi:

5. We can't allow the one percent in this country to control the talking points in this country...
Our President is a great man who has asked us to make him change things.... We can't change anything when the same old same old continue on. You know.... bail outs for the Paris Hiltons, and food stamp redistribution so that the schools now receive some of that families food stamp money....

2. I understand that Ed's primary focus is the American People, and I'm grateful
for his support. But I got the impression last night that he was "catching up" to what was happening in Egypt. I think his focus can be too narrow -- and I also think it's too early to start talking about a challenger. IMO.

3. I'm fine with a challenge if it brings a candidate who will stand up to corporate power...
...rather than echo Republican talking points.

7. Big Ed is full of shit. He's probably be secretly happy to have
a Republican in the White House. Because that's exactly what a primary challenge would bring, and he knows it.

10. Ed never does his homework
He's a junior league blowhole who should stick to reporting sports for Fargo's ice fishing team.

18. I love Ed, but it drives me crazy...and sometimes I find myself yelling at the iPod
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 11:11 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
when a wingnut calls in and Ed is totally unprepared. I'm like: "Ed, really? You don't know this?" He drives me crazy in that way. He's on fire and has such strong passion. But, he is often unprepared when wingnuts call in. I know that people hate her here on DU, but that's the one thing I love about Randi Rhodes. She is always ready with facts. She's quick and makes you think. She almost always has an answer to the lies and disinformation that is continuously perpetuated by the wingnuts.

20. +1000
Exactly...

Just when I'm listening to Ed (after months avoiding him), he is clueless on BASIC SHIT that he should know on BASIC issues.

I could drum up a lot of examples over the years, but it's frankly not worth my time.

Randi and Thom are well versed on issues and can smackdown a Teatard or Neocon if they go off on crap, but Ed is sometimes absolutely clueless.

Sometimes I'll actually listen to Uber Tinfoilhatter Alex Jones for entertainment over listening to Ed stumble through his faux-progressive sloppy talk.

12. Ed is all over the place. First he's against Dennis's call for a primary challenge.
In the next sentence, he's talking about how it won't do any good. There are no quality Democratic challengers.

...and shouldn't Dennis be worried about his own reelection prospects, since Kasich is targeting his district?

14. How is that all over the place - going just from what you wrote - all the things
are consistent.

You say he is against a primary challenge

says it won't do any good.

Says there are no quality Dem challengers (it is completely true that there is NO Dem with a solid record and name recognition who will run - Do you know any?

As to whether DK should worry about his own prospects - he is on target and Ed is right that Kasich might redictrict him out of a district.

17. I'll put it this way: Ed is like I am. Schizophrenic. One day, I'm squarely in
Obama's corner. The next, I'm disgusted with Obama and want him to face a challenger.

19. Ah - that makes sense
and I think it is a function of really being concerned about issues. I have to admit that I am the same, but tend to check myself by remembering how - even if disappointed - Obama is doing a huge amount of good in very tough circumstances.

15. The question of a primary challenge is polarizing.
Some say it will bring a Repug into the White House... others say it will bring Obama back to his progressive roots.

I think the most likely result of a serious primary challenge is a GOP president
