Dithering White House all at sea
Today, the secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, said America would adopt a wait-and-see approach to the involvement in talks of the Muslim Brotherhood, despite harbouring deep suspicions about the opposition movement. She was speaking a day after she aligned the US with the Egyptian vice-president, Omar Suleiman, whom she backs to lead the transition from dictatorship to free and fair elections – in an apparent move to sideline Mubarak.

1. Obama
supporting the dictators hand picked right hand man

the torturer in chief Sulieman

once again the USA is against democracy and for dictatorship, after all the corporations that own the politicians make more money that way.

2. Well why don't lay out a strategy for us that takes into account all the aspects of the problem.
Since you seem to know exactly what to do in this complex situation, put it out there, sport.

5. Laying out Obama's missteps and support for the dictatorship must be unsettling. nt

8. No, actually it's the Guardian's willful distortion of the administration's position
and utter disregard for how international politics and diplomacy works that's unsettling.

But carry on with your "THEY'RE FIGHTING THE MAN" fantasy.

9. What "willful distortion," what "fantasy"?
The facts are plain: the Obama administration is helping to perpetuate a regime that uses violence and poverty to control its citizens.

But I suppose for you that is "how international politics and diplomacy works..."

4. I read today, and have predicted this, demonstrators
are being picked up by the police and are disappearing as they leave the main demonstration group to go home.

There are thousands of photos and videos showing faces of the demonstrators. If Suleiman and Mubarak have till September to continue to control the government and police they will have ample time to arrest, torture, murder and terrify the demonstrators.

Obama and Clinton want to make sure that these two man have as much time to destroy the opposition as they need. And then Mubarak will not step down because there will be no opposition.

He is our chosen bastard the responsibility to remove him is ours, or more precisely Obama's. It is time to man up in a real an palpable way. Wishy washy compromisy will lead to the deaths of hundred of Egyptian citizens and end, most likely, in an even more repressive dictatorship.

6. How can she back a torturer
to head a transition to freedom? And be sincere?

Thank God Wikileaks sidelined her for two months. We got a respite.

10. Of course she is
