Another Southern party switcher (LA AG Caldwell)
Another chapter in the ongoing saga of Democrats fleeing the party in the south: a state blog just reported that Louisiana AG Buddy Caldwell -- the only Democrat participating the multi-state lawsuit against the health care reform law -- will become a Republican. Daily Kingfish:

According to high-placed Democratic operatives, Attorney General Buddy Caldwell will switch parties this week and become a Republican. He is said to be gearing up to face a tough reelection campaign against a formiable, and as-yet-unannounced, Republican elected official.

Caldwell's spokeswoman Sharon Kleinpeter told POLITICO's Alex Burns: "You know more than I do. ... The rumors are out there but I don't know anything about it."
