So if I understand correctly, it's "judicial overreaching" to strike down a mandate...
that FORCES the purchase of a private company's product with threat of a FINE or JAIL..

But when the SCOTUS reverses that decision in a few months, and ensures the private insurance companies that hundreds of millions of Americans will be forced to buy their products, that will be "good law?"

Is this bizarro world or what??

2. "Is this bizarro world or what??" Yes, when
anyone sees merit in the Republicans repealing the health care law, believing that repealing it is good for the country, it's definitely "bizarro world"

Do you plan on calling Harry Reid and telling him to support Mitch McConnell's repeal?

6. Explain.
So, I refuse to buy corporate health insurance.

My taxes go up ... a dedicated tax assessment? Going to what?

Then I break my arm, what then?

If I go to an emergency room does my increased tax payment pay for my repairs?

Or do I still have to pay the hospital on top of my extra taxes?

7. The surtax will still apply to you but you can also claim the ER bills on your taxes as well.
We've been able to claim a certain amount of deductions on healthcare expenses not covered by insurance for quite some time.

5. There is judicial overreach when he dismisses the entire law for ONE provision and

allows insurance companies to reject people for insurance.

It seems clear from his decision that this is in favor of insurance companies, not individual. If this ruling stood, if tomorrow you are struck by a serious disease or had a serious disease in your past and want to buy insurance or change insurance, the ruling would make sure you cannot.

8. I see that, except how is mandated insurance itself not in favor of the insurance companies?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-11 10:10 AM by newtothegame
And I understand that the entire law was dismissed because it doesn't work unless everyone has insurance.

My point is, find another way to get everyone under insurance. At least TRY to pass a worthwhile law, instead of playing political games.

How many single payer advocates were at the table last March?

10. I have problems with the law, but you need to understand what this ruling does

(assuming there is no stay of execution). We need to improve the law, not to get rid of the good things that are in it. And we cant pass a valuable law right now. We lost the House. This is all we have. We need it until we can pass a better law.
