Oh my my:

With his father’s passing, young Paul collected Social Security benefits until age 18, which he put away for college. To make ends meet, Paul’s mother returned to school to study interior design. His siblings were off at college. Ryan remembers this difficult time bringing him and his mother closer.

That's Paul Ryan, Rand worshipper and scourge of social security.

I have to wonder if his mother took out federally funded school loans "to make ends meet" as well. It doesn't make a lot of sense otherwise.

9. And I'll bet not only Paul used state and fed pell grants
Edited on Sat Jan-29-11 02:12 PM by EC
but I'll bet his Mom went to school on the displaced homemaker program(I don't recall if they were fed or WI grants) - like I did when my husband died and I needed re-training.

11. People like Paul Ryan make me sick.
I can almost excuse the trust fund babies, they haven't seen first-hand the hardships that families can go throw when their primary bread winner can no longer win the bread.

So once Douchenozzle Ryan collected his SS paid-for college degree, he went into politics and made destroying SS his primary focus.

Talk about a parasite.

15. Reading Forum Posts At Ron Paul's Site
over this story is fricking hilarious.

Well, she was forced to pay, and forced to receive, blah, blah, blah....http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?276768-Ayn-Rand-collected-Social-Security

But Ayn's friends (The Women Who Launched A Movement) Rose Wilder Lane of "Little House/Praire" refused to accept SS/Medicare, as did her other libertarian soul sister, Isabel Paterson.

They weren't forced to accept SS/Medicare, but poor Ayn was.

Isabel died penniless.

25. Me Too!
Oh my, these turds speak out of both ends of digestive track simultaneously.

I received social security benefits when my dad died in 1972 at the age of 42. The amount wasn't a whole lot but it did give me a chance to experience college life. I liked what I saw and received student grants and loans all the way through receiving a Masters degree. Since then I have been able to collect a second Masters degree and even work towards a PhD through my employer - the federal government. I can only surmise where I would be today if I had received support until 26 - most likely have my PhD 35 years ago.

But things must come to an end, so did my grants and loans. I chose to get a job that would give back to my country so I became a teacher. I stayed with teaching (High school and college ) for over 32 years until I became disabled last summer and unable to work.

I was about to complete my PhD a couple of years ago, but do to a tuition payment foul up, that money ($4000/semester)was ripped away from me only a week or two into the semester even though it wasn't my fault.

Teaching might be a noble profession but it doesn't pay much. It did allow me to buy the necessities of life but not the high out of pocket cost of finishing my PhD. My experience as a federal employee (past 6 yrs.) is this; the feds give you a raise in one hand and take it away with the other (rental cost increases for remote housing).

Now, finishing my PhD is going to be a real challenge as I am recently retired with SSDI and a small pension as a federal worker with both health and financial problems in tow.

29. Everyone is gonna think you're talking about Rand Paul
Terrible title, "Young Paul" and "Father" in the title: Read Rand and Ron Paul. You even mention "Rand" in the body, without they "Ayn" listed. Highly doubt he worships her anyway, Libertarians think Paul Ryan is a neo-con. Sorry, but have no choice but to un-rec.
