You see, mayor Daniels had this part time job refereeing college football games so when Bill and Hillary came to New Haven cuz Yale was honoring him, the mayor's wife subbed for him to represent the city. Daniels was refereeing a Rutgers game in New Jersey.

I was mortified and embarrassed for New Haven, as liberal and progressive a city as they come. I chalked it up to lack of political savvy, but it was the worst example of a dignitary being MIA when a president comes to town that I have ever heard...before the Boner pulled his fast one.

The Clintons had a good time revisiting the Law School and the campus. He also took an Italian pastry from a local restaurant, wrapped it in a napkin and slid it into his suit jacket (as reported by the New Haven Register). So he shouldn't starve on Air Force One no doubt...I had to laugh out loud when I read that!
