Race and approval of President Obama's job performance

With the recent threads discussing how President Obama's approval ratings vary with race, am just wondering if similar results will be found here.

It doesn't surprise me that exit polls taken last November showed that 65% of whites disapprove of President Obama's job performance as no Dem candidate for president has won a majority of the white vote since since LBJ did it in the 1964 election.

These "approval" polls always annoy me because "approve/disapprove" is such a crude assessment. If I "disapprove" because I think he concedes far too much to the right too readily I'm in the same bin as the teabagger who thinks he's a Kenyan-born secret Muslin socialist fascist atheist commie; but the reality is that the two of us disagree in every possible way about both Obama the man and his job performance.

The media takes the 40% of America on the right that HATES Obama with a white hot passion, and then adds to it the 10 to 15% on the left who disapprove of him for not being as liberal as they want.

They media then claims that "a majority of Americans DISAPPROVE of Obama because he's too liberal".

Happens on every single issue that comes up.

because he milks being black when it suits his needs, but otherwise, forget about it. He's had a chance to appoint 2 supreme court justices and not a single black yet to make up for ABOMINATION that is justice Thomas? I don't see him doing much at all in the black community. I bet he re-emerges as we get closer to 2012. I just know so many fellow blacks are disappointed by his lack of action in critical areas.

I'm a white gal who was a huge fan of Thurgood Marshall and am absolutely sickened by Thomas (AND his wife). I guess I've always viewed Thomas more as a repuke whore than as a black man. I do like Obama's supreme court picks though, because certainly it give women more representation.

(it's hard to find articles on this because so much has been written by racists pretending that Obama's policies ONLY benefit black people)

And as a white guy on DU, who gets to walk around in the white world OUTSIDE DU, I have no problem seeing that whites OUTSIDE DU hold Obama to a very different standard than they held Clinton, or any other white President.

And ... I am not be surprised to see non-whites on DU expect MORE of Obama, given his mixed race background.
