Stupak on Hardball just now seems willing to compromise
He said he never intended his amendment to go further than the Hyde Amendment (I'd say then why do we need it) and he is talking to others about how to resolve the problem.

But this morning he said:

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) pledged on Tuesday morning to defeat healthcare reform legislation if his abortion amendment is taken out, saying 10 to 20 anti-abortion-rights Democrats would vote against a bill with weaker language.

“They’re not going to take it out,” Stupak said on “Fox and Friends,” referring to Senate Democrats. “If they do, healthcare will not move forward.”

Anyone else see him on Hardball. Didn't it seem like he was backing down?

1. I'll compromise, too.
I only want his dick and his left ball. He can keep the right one.

Then I want them fried and he has to eat them. He can choose the sauce. That's my compromise.

3. It seemed on Hardball that he was signalling that an acceptable compromise
was in the works.

He repeatedly stated that this question would not stop health care reform.

4. Yes. I saw it and was going to start the same thread. He CLEARLY said that his amendment is the
same as the Hyde Amendment. He said he does NOT intend to restrict women's abortion rights any further than the status quo. He SAID he's FOR the status quo. Like I said after this vote passed, Rep. Clyburn and a couple others said they're sure that people voted for the Stupak Amendment thinking they were voting for the status quo, and once they figure out it went further than that, language will be worked out that equals the Hyde Amendment and it will pass.

13. since then, I've seen clips of what he said on Pravda, he is clearly talking out of both sides of
his mouth.

He was acting on Pravda like his amendment is a big change in the law against abortion. Like he is in the forefront to eliminate abortion, that he's going to do it and he won't back down.

Then on Chris Matthews, the same day, he says he didn't want to go farther than Hyde and he'll put in what ever language he needs to to make sure it goes no farther than Hyde.

The only way to make sense of this was a poll in his district? A threat from the party?

I hate politicians. What a dishonest fuck.

15. I found his "us" v. "them" language very disturbing.....
"ours" "theirs" "we" them" etc.

Sounds like he is not aware he is in the same party with "them."
