5. It does seem weird that Reid rushed it to the floor as he did
I wonder if there is any way he can know which Senators are available - as it is not uncommon to leave. It did seem that he should not have been surprised on Manchin, as he is conservative enough to be a question - and thus should be questioned and lobbied.

Given that it was very close - with Lincoln there it would have been 58 - if Manchin was persuadable, that would have put intense pressure on Brown - who said he would vote for it - and was lavishly praised by MA papers for that.

2. I thought Lieberman and Collins are bringing it back
in a standalone bill..?

He pretty much is awful though.

7. I don't trust him on this. He is working for McCain and Palin, his dear friends.
This is one big act by him to try to get votes when he runs in CT again.

8. Check his "non-warmongering" voting record. Ending DADT is consistent with that side of Liebermann
(at least let me have a little hope, LOL)

9. Well they fucked that up. Nice job.
I know Susan Collins pulls this kind of shit for attention so Senators will beg for her vote, and Manchin has showed himself to be a dick the second he got elected, but the WTF was up with Murkowski who said she'd support it? I guess she's a liar.

11. All the republicans and are liars. It looks like Manchin is no better than the teabagger he ran
against in WV.

12. No, Manchin is better than the teabagger...
..just not by that much.

It was basically a conservative (Manchin) versus a batshit insane teabagger (Raese).

Sometimes we are just going to have to accept that to get a vote for our leadership in the House and Senate will mean significantly sacrificing political purity.
