I deleted one poignant phrase of his:'the American people' and substituted one word:'colonists' from his own quote from last night.
"So, sympathetic as I am to those who prefer a fight over compromise, as much as the political wisdom may dictate fighting over solving problems, it would be the wrong thing to do. The American people colonists didn't send us here to wage symbolic battles or win symbolic victories."
Now with a little juxtapositioning from me taking his statement back in time to a July morning back in 1776 added my next paragraph to the one above and you get this:
"I cannot vote to risk more lives while we can still work to forge an agreement with King George III by voting YES on Mr Jefferson's resolution, when, in the end, in my mind, it is a meaningless resolution."
Some things are worth fighting for....please, Mr President, will you please tell us what those things are in your mind?
Because I doubt at this moment that you think anything is worth fighting for. Unless I take you at face value and see your past actions as being willing to fight for those that already have much and want more.
