1. My dear Clio!
They can't! Don't you understand???

Ratifying the START treaty would be giving a victory to Obama!

And they couldn't bear that.

Disgusting, all of them.

:argh:

4. Sorry, I don't see the connection?
Now I admit I don't know much about the new START treaty, but what does a treaty with Russia have to do with North and South Korea shooting at each other again?

7. The only parties in the world who oppose START are North Korea, Iran and the GOP...
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 11:59 AM by Clio the Leo
... we cant very well condemn North Korea's uranium enrichment plant while refusing to reduce the number of arms we have.

With all due respect, you NEED know about the START treaty.

8. Thank you for the link
It seems that it still leaves both countries enough nukes to wipe each other, or any other country off the face of the earth if the mood strikes though. But I still don't see how a treaty with Russia that leaves us with over a thousand nukes has any effect (affect?) on our ability to try to hold other countries to the non-proliferation treaty (is NK even a signatory to that?)

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying we shouldn't ratify the treaty (I guess it is not possible to get rid of all of them), I just don't see why NK attacking SK would have any connection to the treaty.

but isn't a treaty only worth a shit if the participants FOLLOW the treaty? You think a treaty would affect the behavior of NK? lol...

10. The US doesn't want to be the lone stand out with N. Korea and Iran to NOT want to reduce nukes...
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 01:10 PM by Clio the Leo
.... is the point. By failing to ratify START, that's what it looks like.

If US and Russia are in an agreement on an arms reduction deal, it becomes hard for China to support North Korea (or even Iran's) efforts to build a stock pile.
