How many people who object to the TSA screening have defended racial profiling?
I often hear people defend racial profiling - of "others," of course - as a necessary evil of the new, dangerous world we live in. "What's a little inconvenience, especially if they have nothing to hide?" is a common refrain.

While I understand why some folks object to the more intrusive screening processes, but I can't help but wonder how many of those who are objecting most vociferously are among those who previously thought it was fine and dandy for other people to have their privacy invaded because of the group of which they happened to be a member.

1. The entire right half of the debate
Everytime I see something on Drudge about this issue I can't help but think.. but you all don't have a problem with racial profiling.

On the other hand, I don't have a problem with these procedures.

I DO have a problem with racial profiling.

2. Here's another option:
We could realize that bad things are going to happen no matter how many reasonable precautions we take and stop FUCKING LIVING IN FEAR!!!

6. agreed
the TSA folks who pat me down at airports don't seem scared though, neither am I. We are just going about our day and doing our jobs.

9. I like your option best.
I opposed ( and oppose) all racial profiling. I oppose this nonsense. As someone who was at Kings Cross in London, I would agree. We can't live in fear.

3. Good Question...
I just asked my husband how he felt about the new screening since he travels often for work. His response was that they won't bother him. He's been through enough DWB stops to really not give a crap about the airport.

5. this stupid issue is the new fever of the news/web

I really thing America is gradually losing its mind...or at least the majority of us sensible people are now powerless to keep the manic fringe from dominating the news.

I'm glad I'm not the only one not bothered by airport security. I think about 80% of us aren't, but yet the uninformed manic fringe has hijacked the headlines. I'm way more bothered by what happens on the streets and at traffic stops.

The most physical pat down I got from Airport security was in the Netherlands.

8. The media is also a big part of the problem
Even though they acknowledge - usually in passing - that 80% of the public has no problem with this, they continue breathlessly reporting this as if there's some kind of uprising happening.

11. I got the Super Secret Special Screening a few years ago.
A few years ago I was flying and got the dreaded "SSSS" stamp on my boarding pass.

I am a white female (actually I'm pink).

Everybody else in line for Super Secret Special Screening were brown men.

Why this is, I have no idea.
