Democratic Leadership Will Meet At White House Without Republicans
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/17/democratic-leadership-wil_n_785135.html

With Republican leadership asking for, and receiving, a delay in a previously announced bi-partisan meeting at the White House, Democrats have decided to make it a partisan affair.

Senate and House Democratic leadership will be meeting with President Barack Obama on Thursday, three Capitol Hill sources tell the Huffington Post.

The invites on the Senate side include Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). On the House side, the list will likely include Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Mary.), and Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.)

The White House did not return a request for comment as to what topics would be on the docket. That said, it's not hard to guess. Currently lingering in the Senate are a host of high-profile legislative items that the party wants resolved during the lame duck session, chief among them the DREAM Act, unemployment insurance, a nuclear weapons treaty, tax cuts, and repealing the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy.

1. Predicted GOP response: "Why is the Democrat party shutting us out?"
I doubt I'll get many counter bets.

3. I hope they can figure out they are still in control until the beginning of next year
It's the current congress that can let the Bush tax cuts expire or extend them. They will have already expired once the new congress is seated and all this talk that it can't be done because of the loss of majority is pure horsehit.

6. Cool.
And it should go on for hours and be repeated on a regular basis. GOPers should be treated to nothing more than big cheshire-cat grins and maybe a subdued chuckle -- let 'em wonder, let 'em squirm.

12. Now what would be REALLY funny....
.... is if they invited the teabaggers.

The emerging theme that's coming out of this new Congress is that the Dems will, when possible, try to work with the teabaggers on areas where they agree to further drive a rift between them and the GOP establishment. We've already seen it with the WH and the earmark ban.

Fun, fun, fun.

16. I heard the Republicans won't be there because Mitch McConnell is getting a chin implant.
John Boehner has his weekly appointment to get dipped in Rit Orange Dye.

It sounds preposterous, but it's not...

In all seriousness, what else could they be up to? They certainly aren't concerned with governing.
