Senate: Gender Pay Equity bill fails to move forward. All Republicans voted No. All Dems voted Yes.
The vote was 58-41. Senator Murkowski is on her way to Alaska to declare victory over Joe Miller.

American voters, this is the Republican party. It's who they are. It's how they vote. Not for the public interest, but for their corporate patrons.

1. I assume this was a cloture vote, not a vote on the bill itself?

2. I see my junior senator voted NO. As a father of two daughters, that is a great move,

for him, similar to campaigning for Perry last month. You can always count on senator centerfold for doing the right thing. :sarcasm:

19. I hope that at least one of those daughters learns of this and questions him
I believe the youngest is pre-med. How would he feel if she were offered less than a man with the same experience. I hope the women of Massachusetts hear of this vote - and decide that he is not independent or someone looking out for their interests.

3. Repug women voted no? There is a cut we can make. They can
get less than the men and we can save a bundle.:sarcasm:

7. If women vote no on this bill shouldn't they retroactively have their salary cut?

14. Indeed, what made the GOP women change their mind since the Lily Ledbetter pay act?
Remember the Lily Ledbetter equal pay act to fix that outrageous supreme court ruling that let a corporation get away with paying Lily Ledbetter 40% less for the same job as a man over 20 years? All four GOP women in the senate voted for that bill (though most GOP women in the house outrageously voted against it). Now the GOP senate women oppose equal pay for themselves, it's totally outrageous.

6. Let's count the seconds!
Let's count the seconds until the Dems step up forcefully and make this an issue.

Anyone want to count with me?

Anyone?
