Boehner/GOP to dismantle Office of Congressional Ethics!
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/15/opinion/15mon3.html?_r=1
As he approaches the duties of speaker of the House, Representative John Boehner is generously asking one and all for ideas on “how we can make this institution function again.” Mr. Boehner did not mention dysfunction, but that’s apparently in the works, too, according to reports that he will likely dismantle the quasi-independent Office of Congressional Ethics.

Outraged taxpayers who voted against business as usual in Washington should be dumbfounded. Congress’s Tea Party newcomers should be the first to protect the office.

If your party keeps getting tripped up by ethics violations when in power, dismantle the Office of Congressional Ethics! Because, of course, acting ethically for congressional Republicans is just a bridge too far. If congressional Democrats park in the wrong parking space, however, woe be unto them! IOKIYAR (It's OK If You're A Republican) rears its ugly head again.

1. Maybe Boehner is just being thorough
If Bonehead has done a careful examination of his incoming majority, he might have caught how many of them
are liable to investigation for wrongdoing under House Ethics rules, and decided it's better to do away with
ethics violations than to do away with 75 of his Republican Congresspeople.

2. Pretty sure the CBC would support this...
My understanding is that the Congressional Black Caucus wants this Office of Congressional Ethics done away with. They believe it has been unfairly targeting minority congresspersons.
