The GOP is intellectually and morally bankrupt.
I know this is not news and I also know that there are countless actions/inactions/statements that can be used to prove the statement. Watching the coverage of going rogue made me focus on the last 4 people that the RW has selected for the 2 most important offices in the world: W, an incurious frat boy who swaggered through countless business failures ; Cheney, a paranoid liar whose goal of an American empire trampled the American Constitution: John McCain, who parlayed being shot down in Vietnam into a bogus military strategist status; and Palin, a radical joke. Any party with this record of standard bearers would be a laughing stock and be shunted off the national stage. That is if we lived in a sane world where reporters practiced journalism rather than PR for moneyed interests.

6.  Damned funny and too true.
One of the most amazing phenomena in this country is the panic over deficits when the Democrats are in and the benign neglect of red numbers when the GOP is. Equally amazing is the fact that the GOP runs up these debts: the Democrats come in and improve the economy and reduce the deficit; and then the cycle starts over again. I understand that the electorate has a short memory but the lack of understanding of these facts by the pundits is gut wrenching.

7. On the contrary, it makes perfect political sense.
"The Two Santas Clauses"

The Two Santa Claus Theory is a political theory and strategy developed by Jude Wanniski in 1976, which he promoted within the U.S. Republican Party.<7>

The theory states that, in democratic elections, if one party appeals to voters by proposing more spending, then a competing party cannot gain broader appeal by proposing less spending. The "Santa Claus" of the theory title refers to the political party that promises spending. Instead, "Two Santa Claus Theory" recommends that the competing party must assume the role of a second Santa Claus by offering other appealing options.

This theory is a response to the belief of monetarists, and especially Milton Friedman, that the government must be starved of revenue in order to control the growth of spending (since, in the view of the monetarists, spending cannot be reduced by elected bodies as the political pressure to spend is too great).

The "Two Santa Claus Theory" does not argue against this belief, but holds that such arguments cannot be espoused in an effort to win democratic elections. In Wanniski's view, the Laffer curve and supply-side economics provide an attractive alternative rationale for revenue reduction: that the economy will grow, not merely that the government will be starved of revenue. Wanniski argued that Republicans must become the tax-cutting Santa Claus to the Democrats' spending Santa Claus.

3. If we didn't live in a country where the national media wasn't
a pathetic world joke.

The corporatewhoredom of America need to be taken down and I appreciate the Obama admin for at least pointing out that a certain outlet isn't "news".

10. Their considerable intellectual abilities are entirely bent toward keeping us ignorant.
In short, most of 'em are playing dumber than they are.
