Whiners, complainers, and scammers, they come to embody the Bullies we all knew in high school

Negativity will be the death of the GOP

Uh uh...too late, cannot change...Obama got the Positive Mode Covered and Locked

But WHY? why do the Pubs continue to frighten the masses with neg shit?

1. They've got nothin'.
Their policies are massive failures. Saint Ronnie is worm food, and it ain't Morning in America for the Repubs.

Their whole MO is to distract and agitate their braincell-deficient minions.

2. They say the exact same thing about Democrats
... up to and including the "well, if you disagree with our bills, why aren't you offering alternatives" meme when they were in power.

Goes both ways, and political myopia amongst partisians keeps them from seeing the truth of the matter.

3. because they see the World changing and leaving them behind.
It will become more and more obvious as the demographics of the US shift.

They will become angrier as they dwindle. Old Republicans are dying at a faster rate than new ones are being made.

4. Well, by their very nature, they can't
Things suck right now after 8 years of Reagan, 4 years of Bush I, and 8 years of Bush II, things used to suck in a lot of ways for a lot of people before The New Deal- and Repubs want to either take us back to the way things were prior to FDR's New Deal- which sucked- or keep us where, I guess, we are now- which also sucks. There's really nothing idealistic, enlightening, or positive about their agenda at all as far as I can tell. There's always a certain fear of change- which the Repubs know and have exploited too well over the years but the NATURAL state of *gasp* EVOLUTION for societies seems to be towards progress and advancement of the social, economic, and political order NOT stagnation and/or reversion to earlier, less advanced states of being. If you think about things in that way, "conservatism" could actually be considered "unnatural" IMHO.

8. They fear the loss of the power...
...that they never actually had, but are convinced they possess by the RW propagandists. They've always been in the same boat as the rest of us proles, but thought they owned the world...and now it's being taken away by those coloreds, those queers, those uppity women.

Manipulated ignorance is a powerful force, and a mighty tool in the hands of the manipulators...

10. They've always been nasty & paranoid, seeing Commies under every bed.
Now they are just more obvious about it.

It goes back at least to the days of the Joseph McCarthy witch hunt, where he destroyed many peoples' careers with lies and innuendo. His helpers were Roy Cohn and Richard Nixon. That was before my day. But they are still obnoxious and vicious and will do anything and say anything to get power.

Joseph McCarthy drank himself to death. There is a Herblock cartoon with McCarthy struggling in a spider web, saying "I can't do this to me!".

:wtf:

I ask the limbicile that I work with, "What is Rush Limbaugh 'for'?" He gets a dumb 'thinking' look on his face then realizes that Limbaugh isnt 'For' anything.

30. Because fear and negativity has always worked for them. Since their active stance
against civil rights in the '60s, to the Nixon Southern Strategy; fear of blacks; fear of women; fear of Muslims; fear of Jews; fear of gays; fear of Mexicans; fear of "terror". Fear works for them. It helps get people to the polls when they afraid. Seems to have worked for them this time around, too! It's only when our side turns out in massive numbers can they be defeated. As long as we don't turn out, fear wins!

31. Bottom line, they have nothing to offer from the idea trust...
They have created an intellectual desert in their ranks...all they have left is fear.

Once the insane wing of the GOP took power, it was allover for what was once a party of progress, then a party of laissez fair, moving down to a party controlled completely by corporate benefactors and finally into a burned out shell of it's former self. I've noticed that over the past few years, I have not heard "the Party of Lincoln" used to describe the GOP, but rather the "Party of Reagan"...if that doesn't show the ideological shift, few things do.

One other thing, the extremist, (regardless of party) will only have an effect on the fringe, and spells disaster for whichever party takes the extremist to heart.

We are witnessing the meltdown of a major political party, something that might happen once a century...:D
