The media isn't really out to screw anyone-- well, maybe Fox Noise has an explicit political agenda, but most of the media doesn't. Like just about everyone else in corporate America today, the news media is driven primarily by profit considerations, and that means keeping the pot stirred as much as possible, creating the appearance of conflict as much as possible, and stoking partisanship as much as possible. It means creating the impression that all public events are like parts of a big football game, endlessly entertaining because they are endlessly in totally meaningless conflict. All that keeps people interested, apparently including yourself (because you're paying attention to them, just like they want). That's their real objective. Journalistic integrity is all well and good when they can have it AND still keep the pot boiling, because that's what generates viewership and readership.
Seriously though-- the best way to skewer the media, if you don't like their behavior, is to simply stop paying attention to them, and to stop helping them pay their bills by viewing their advertisers sales pitches. THAT is the engine that drives the media and creates the situation you're lamenting. You can do yourself a big favor AND strike a blow for better journalism by unsubscribing to cable media AND TELLING YOUR CABLE COMPANY WHY.
Turn the box off. That's the revolt you're calling for. Be the change you seek.
