Things Look good for Dems Tomorrow...Tim Kaine said just now...Chris Van Holland said Twice in Last
2 Days that We will HOLD THE House and Senate!

Both of them were very upbeat. Kaine on CNN and Van Holland on MSNBC today and yesterday on some show.

They are Insiders and Very Upbeat. I would think they know more than we do or the Press will Laugh at them for their calls after the election.

The "Cell Phone" problem for Pollsters might also be a huge factor that Van Holland and Kaine are seeing. I imagine that the White House is doing their "OWN Polls" ....so maybe the Bravado and Certanty from the Media and Repugs is just a "Smoke Screen."

What do you all think. It kind of boggles my mind the disparity of all of this between the Polls, Media and the Administration as to whether everything is just "NOISE" or "Not."

1. Eh
they have to be upbeat. They can't go on TV and announce "we already lost" that is what the MSM has been trying to do for over a year.

Hey I hope we do hold on to both houses (I think we will) but some of this is PR.

2. I hope that voters decide to keep their Democratic incumbent even if they "disapprove of Congress"
That would give us a chance to hold Ohio 16 and 13. I really don't expect that the gops will win the Senate. Some of their candidates are shamefully lame.

20. I've been canvassing for Moran (VA-8) and not feeling very secure about turnout.
His seat should be secure, but the response has been unsettling. Been giving voting reminders to Dem. homes - and too many folks are being tight-lipped or even saying they're voting for his opponent because they're so discouraged and want change (gag me).

I've been thinking...

1. I'm just shocked beyond comprehension how uninformed people are about what the truth IS, and about Republican "Staging" of the facts
2. I'll bet a lot of Obama voters are taking crap from all the cynics who are parroting the t-party hyperbole... pounding them just like the MSM is doing
3. I'm starting to feel as if politics is to a large extent -for the swing voters - just about what's fashionable, and cynicism is generally 'cooler' than ideals.

5. I heard them today too and, yes, they seem pretty upbeat...
Could be wishful thinking, but my guess is there are problems with the polls - potus radio talked about that being likely too.

Guess we'll have to wait and see - with fingers crossed!

11. Believe me on this...I'm to the Left of many of you here.. But, I've got Fingers Crossed
and Amulets and anything I can think of and even Prayers...that Van Holland and Kaine are not "leading us on."

I just don't think they would want to do that...because being "FAR WRONG" would bring them up for ridicule and I don't think either of the TWO would want that thing on their Political Record for their Future in Politics.

They were so CONVINCED...they CONVINCED even ME! PLEASE......let them be correct...that there would be a SURPRISE for ONCE in the face of these Pollsters!

7. They must be upbeat to make sure people get out and vote -
- if they were to repeat the current polls, people would just not bother voting. This is an attempt to keep damage at a minimum by keeping people encouraged and getting out the vote.

16. I Understand That is What they Do...but ...their Reputation is On the Line..if they Flub Up
and they will have to face Blitzer and Matthews for YEARS if they WRONG CALLED this Election! Why would they do this? Put themselves on the Line that Dems will WIN 2010...if they Don't have INSIDE INFO?

36. They'd have to be inside the voting booth to get true "inside" info -
- and they really have no choice but to keep us encouraged enough to think that our vote counts so that we'll go to the polls. Turnout is key and could make a difference in some of the tight races.

I see this as just trying to keep the fire stoked. We'll know for sure soon enough.

37. I think Blitzer and Matthews know the game
and know that they will say what they said. The HAVE to keep their game face on and they HAVE to project optimism. I hope they are right, I believe we will have a better night than projections are claiming... but I don't think either of them really think we are keeping the House. They hope, and think we have a shot when they look race by race... but I doubt they have any inside polls showing things much differently than what has been made public.

14. Look...I'm just reporting that they are out there..But...I'm praying myself..and I'm one
who has been hounding here about our Dems dropping Howard Dean. They both looked like they knew something "we didnt" ...I'm so praying an hoping...

But, I do worry. And...I'm not some damned troll... I'm so looking for hope that ANYONE offering it could deceive me..... And, I've learned by be very cynical since "Selection 2000" so it's hard for me to believe Van Holland or Kaine...but WHY would EITHER put their Reputations on Line if what they are seeing with "internal polling by Dems" doesn't show that we will HOLD both HOUSE AND SENATE?

I have to hope. But...we still have to "forward think." If it doesn't work out like what we hope. The "Plan B" is the ESCAPE HATCH....and RE-GROUP.

We have to remain hopeful that even if what they say doesn't turn out so well that we don't give up and go off into somekind of "hole of dispair." (Believe me...I fight going into that "hole"...every day.

Maybe some things just take longer...but we also need to be vigilant...monitoring and never lose IDEALISM. That's My Problem...I fight to keep my "IDEALISM." I really BELIEVE that we NEED IDEALISTS...who can VISIONIZE...ways to MOVE FORWARD...LEAPING OVER EVERY OBSTRUCTION...NO MATTER WHAT we HAVE TO DO.

SO...OPTIMISTIC...but always FIGHT that PESSIMISM....DAILY!

9. Kaine Said same on Voter Protection conference call
There was a DNC voter protection conference call this afternoon with 10,000 or so attorneys who aer working on the DNC voter protection program.

Gov. Kaine was upbeat on this call. The early voter numbers do not show a wave election.

13. Um, or
perhaps they really are feeling good about tomorrow. Not so obvious.

Unless of course you're one of those Democrats who buy into the media/right wing spin.

I'm not. You see, we've been hearing all along on talk shows that the minority vote wasn't going to show up and that the youth vote wasn't going to show up. Guess what? They are going to show up and it's going to make a difference whether you or anyon else likes it.

Having said that I say yes, we'll lose the house but not nearly as bad as the right wing hacks and the media have portrayed it.

32. "Nate's prediction of +53 is sounding about right, if not optimistic."
GOP Dem

10/28-31: 48 44
10/14-17: 48 44
10/7-10: 48 43
9/30-10/3: 46 43
9/23-26: 46 46
9/13-19: 45 46

Note, each point is worth about 6-10 House seats (and yes, national trends do have an impact at the race-specific level). So a five point swing means more than you'd think at first blush. And it's not just Gallup showing Democrats in a free-fall. Nate has a sobering chart:

House generic ballot

We can nibble at the margins, try and rescue good individual Dems here and there. But the overall trends are brutal, and Nate's prediction of +53 is sounding about right, if not optimistic.

34. So in looking at this chart
People started getting disgruntled last summer? That's not even a whole year to allow change to happen.

I could understand if it was this summer and people were upset, but LAST summer? That's when the Tea Baggers began picking up steam and was incredibly loud in the media.

12. I think that the internal polls for the Ds are very good, and that they are
fine with the "R landslide" meme that's out there in the media.

I think they're counting on that meme to depress REPUBLICAN voters who will think the win is in the bag, and they can skip voting and go about their business.

On the other hand, I think the D Disaster doom and gloom in the MSM is energizing the D voters, voters who would normally pass on a midterm.

That's what I think.

15. Well, Democrats are not going to be slaughtered as we were told 6 months ago.
They were going to take back the House and Senate we were told. It was going to be a slaugher.

Now, it's just the House they are going to win back and...

And now they are walking back the sizes of their victories.

I agree with you, KoKo.

The swell of voting going on right now is not good for the GOP.

18. David Z...Early Voting here in NC swung Democratic and that was Very Hopeful..
Plus...NC Repugs are complaining about "Black Box voting" in Rural Areas swinging to Dems. (HA..remember DU workers for Voting Reform..."Verified Paper Ballots" and get rid of the Computer Voting Machines corrupted by Repugs? Remember That?

Anyway...Repugs in NC are now turning around the VOTING REFORM we ACTIVISTS DID and Complaining that the Voting is Corrupt in "outlying Counties" because they had to keep their "DRE Voting Machines" while the BIG NC CITIES (one of which I live in) got to CHANGE THEIR MACHINES to GET PAPER BALLOT COUNT!"

NC Activists got Clean Verifiable Ballots for Voting in the two Biggest Counties.. Wake and Mecklenburg and the Repugs have been Mad as HATTERS since then. NOW they see Machines turning Repug votes into Dem Votes and are UP IN ARMS CARRYING ON!

REPuGS Are so GOOD AT TURNING our OWN DEM ISSUES AGAINST US...AREN'T THEY? They are MASTERFUL AT THIS!

Obama won by a 9 million vote margin, many of whom were first time voters.

Our base is turning out. They may have a better night than we do overall, but they are not going to have any victory like we've been programmed to believe for the last six months.

28. Managing the voters....
I think they are just trying to manage potential voters - don't jump ship, it is worth voting for your Democratic candidate, etc.

I am sure they are more optimistic than pollsters would lead them to believe but I think alot of this is not to discourage would-be Democratic voters to either not go to the polls or compromise on a Libertarian candidate.
