Watch out for Lieberman?

I am not going to predict what will happen tomorrow night but the indications are that we may end up with 50 senate seats with losses in Colorado, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Washington. At this point I am assuming that we will win in California and West Virginia.

So given how the race in Washington goes, I think it is very likely that we will have 50 or 51 seats in the senate. I would not be surprised at all if Lieberman switched sides and joined the Republican caucus.

Something to watch for I guess.

Show me your proof. I'm getting sick and tired of this BS about Lieberman/Nelson switching. Nelson would get killed in the GOP primary and Lieberman would never win in CT again.

5. Actually, I was just listening to a Rachel Maddow Show from last year

Around the time Lieberman was going all "I'm fillerbustering the healthcare bill" - She interviewed Ned Lamont and he said that a huge portion of Lieberman's support in Ct. is in fact Republican. Puts his anti-public option crusade into better perspective if it turns out he was hedging his bets for a 2010 GOP takeover. Joe does like running his little committee.

7. It was a coalition of Repubs, indies and Dems that had voted for him in the past

that won him the seat last time. And Repubs in CT are very moderate at times. Lieberman could switch but I don't know how much it matters. With Ben Nelson, the Senate would lean toward Repubs anyway if it was that close.

3. Lieberman won't switch if he wants to run here in Connecticut again. He won't win

as a Repub here, period. One switch too many for us in CT. CT is a mostly blue state. He may retire but I think Lieberman wants to run one more time. He was lucky last time that some people liked him due to his years of serving us and his going to bat for keeping subs at Groton in the budget. But his poll #'s have been pretty bad the last few years. If he switches, it won't sit well here at all.

There's too much power in being the guy on the fence. They'll have to play his game on senate structure. power-sharing, co-chairmanships, himself (of course) in a prominent leadership role perhaps?

There is a very good chance it ends up 50/50...

If that happens I don't think Lieberman would think twice about sticking it to the Dem caucus...

If Dems have 51, then it is less likely as it would take Nelsen switching too to make that happen
