Tightening Senate races give pause to upbeat GOP
AP

By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press Writer

BLUE BELL, Pa. – To understand Republicans' nagging fear that the Nov. 2 elections might not be quite the massive triumph that many have predicted, check out Pennsylvania's perplexing Senate race.

Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak has trailed Republican Pat Toomey for months, and a GOP victory always has seemed likely, given that it's a Republican-trending year in this perpetually contested state. Yet recent polls suggest Sestak has closed the gap, and Republican leaders are imploring supporters not to panic even as they ask themselves: What's going on?
:woohoo:

The Sestak-Toomey race mirrors other Senate contests that are making this one of the most intriguing and unpredictable midterm elections in years.

Ed Rendell, a former Democratic Party national chairman who is retiring after two terms as Pennsylvania governor, said in an interview that he thinks the specter of an ascendant tea party is lighting a fire under Democratic voters.

"Democrats are getting scared by all the craziness out there," he said moments after campaigning for Sestak at Temple University. He cited Republicans who want to subpoena scores of Obama administration officials and who would outlaw abortion for rape victims. That message, plus the party's get-out-the-vote push, might help candidates such as Sestak pull off upsets on Nov. 2, Rendell said. Or maybe not.

"It's all coming together," Rendell said. "Now will it come together fast enough to make a difference? I can't predict that."

4. FWIW, spoke to 2 of my cousins in Pgh. Pa. on Thurs. &
HEY are voting for Sestak. They HATE Toomey and one of them is a minister. I HOPE they are an example of dem enthusiasm. Neither of them are usually very politically motivated, but this time they both almost yelled into the phone "HELL YEA I'M VOTING!"

8. There is a culmination of events that are bringing this about...

first and foremost, the GOP has run on absolutely nothing. they have zilch. No party ever won without some form of "plan", even a bad one; the GOP has nothing.

The traditional GOP gave up on Moderates, they demanded noting but lockstep maniacs that can't tie their shoes w/o an instruction manual written in Chinese. Boehner, Grassley, McConnell and a host of other morons, (might as well toss in that crone McCain), decided they could get away with scaring the public to the point of a massive soiling of the pantaloons of the nation. Well, that didn't work. Yen...with the GOP not radical enough, out come the Teabaggers, who have absolutely no idea what they stand for, have no realistic agenda, (I like the stop SS/Medicare rhetoric myself because of the massive jawdrop that would come from the Gov't saying, "Thanks for all of that cash you put in over your lives! Starting 1 December, SS and Medicare will no longer exist, expect no payment, and pay for your own care. Have a nice day!)

I guess I could add that the "tax" thing is amusing as well. Federal/state/municipalities suddenly saying, we have no tax funding, so if you need police or fire protection, you're on your own. Besides, even if we could afford such things, the roads are so bad,a two block drive would take a little more than an hour, since you no longer have meds to control symptoms, we will send a hearse as soon as we can. We ask you find a cool place to place the body so that the odor offends as few as possible.; try to die during the Winter months.

No taxes...well, there goes the military, the courts, sewer cleanup, clean water, the clean up of Ronald Ragans grave...you name it, it's gone...but you have your muskets at the ready,,(can't afford those high powered firearms/ammo any more.

BTW, while you weren't looking, we stripped out the 19th Amendment to th Constitution, women can no longer vote.
