Magellan Poll--CO Governor: Hickenlooper (D) 44% Tancredo (I) 43% Maes (R) 9%

This sucks! Hopefully Hickenlooper will pull it off:

A new Magellan Strategies survey in Colorado shows John Hickenlooper (D) barely ahead Tom Tancredo (C) in the race for governor, 44% to 43%, with Dan Maes (R) way back at just 9%.

Since a similar August survey, Maes has plummeted from 27% to 9% with the vast majority of his supporters now backing Tancredo.

Early indications from a Public Policy Polling survey currently in the field also suggest the race is competitive.

Tancredo is effectively the Republican nominee now. If Maes dropped out most of his support would go to Tancredo.

His primary campaign message is that we need to cut government spending.

He is giving voters a choice between someone who is soft on illegal immigration and wants to cut government spending and someone who is virulently anti illegal immigration and wants to cut government spending.

He's icing the cake by trying to negotiate cuts in pension benefits for city employees.
