My 17 year old daughter and I trundled our sleepy butts, leaving at 4 am from our red central Washington small town, over the Cascade Mtns. to the Univ. of Wash. in Seattle today, to hear Obama and a panoply of Washington state Dem leaders, inspire and encourage us to keep the faith, and especially to vote in these midterms. Which, of course, we all will (except for my daughter who doesn't turn 18 till January...sadly).
It was a thrill of a lifetime. We were about 100 ft. away from the stage - standing room only. Event kicked off with a gospel choir, inspirational singing ..."Lean on Me" was especially moving to me. Makes me really happy to be a Dem - and wonder what they sing at Repub rallies?
Our President was absolutely energized, engaged, actually - quite serious. He broke his beautiful smile a couple times, and appeared humbled, yet appreciative at the ENORMOUS love we gave him. But he's not a man to steal the limelight nor take this lightly. I was so impressed with the energy he is bringing to this campaign swing. I finally felt that, if we don't get the results we all hope for in the election, at least we didn't go down without an honest fight.
The speeches were great, it was an overflow crowd, and the enthusiasm gap? Don't believe what you hear! I'm here to testify to it! If you can ever go see him, I highly recommend it. I'm very pumped for my GOTV calls tomorrow!
