The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee passed along some numbers from their latest Illinois Senate race poll: the contest is still essentially deadlocked, with Democratic Alexi Giannoulias ahead of Republican Mark Kirk. Even with a blizzard of ads on Chicago telelvision--some 15 percent still can't decide.
Other findings: President Obama has a 57 percent favorable in his adopted home state compared to 40 percent unfavorable. President Obama has been in Chicago twice for Giannoulias, Michelle Obama once and Vice President Biden twice. The Giannoulias campaign is counting on the Obamas to help bring out a big African American vote.
The poll was of 601 likely voters taken Oct. 13-17 by Anzalone Liszt Research, Inc. with a four percent margin of error. The DSCC did not show me the whole poll, and just passed along the information below.
