Aqua Buddha Victim Speaks On Conway Ad, Paul's Past
Shorter version: I did not like the ad, but it is true.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/aqua-buddha-victim-speaks-out-on-conway-ad.php

The woman who says she was once blindfolded, tied up, deposited in a creek and asked to worship 'Aqua Buddha' by an impetuous young Rand Paul now says the ad Democrats are using to highlight the incident in an attempt to tear down the Republican Paul in the Kentucky Senate race is "over the top" but essentially true.

...

The woman again characterized the incident as "a hazing prank" and said her reasons for coming forward were not to paint Paul as nefarious, but as someone who may be more than he seems at first glance.
...

Though she says her story isn't "consequential enough to drive the Senate race," she suggested to Greg that she does agree with one central tenet of Conway's recent campaign strategy, which has centered around using stories from Baylor to, essentially, cast Paul as a phony when it comes to Christian conservativism.

"There was a different side to him at one time and he's pretending that it never existed," If he would just acknowledge it, it would all go away and it wouldn't matter anymore."

1. Rand Paul needs to apologize to Conway
Paul falsely accused Conway of lying. He needs to apologize and shake Conway's hand.

2. The question one needs to ask oneself: Would the GOP use "Aqua Buddha" against
a Democratic candidate? Of course they would. I applaud Conway's crowbar to the knees. I hope it works.

5. You Bet Your Sweet Bippy They Would!!!
Everyone and their cocker spaniel would be screaming from the rooftops that Jack Conway was the evilest evil that ever eviled. These are the same people who think Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ, a Muslin, a Kenyan anti-colonialist etc and have no trouble saying it aloud.

I don't know if Conway will win in KY, but I'm sick and fucking tired of Democratic candidates who just sit there and take whatever slime the GOP and their media minions throw at them. If Conway goes down, well then he goes down swinging...

8. Fin A YEAH ...
Heck, they MAKE this stuff up and use ...

Can't believe any dem would say anything about it ...

And, in reality it is not a "religion" issue, it is that Rand is a VERY self entitled, petulent little punk who does not have the "demonor" for the job ...

9. Yes, they would
But why focus on the not-a-Christian thing instead of the whole felony-kidnapping thing?

10. Which hurts you worse in KY? I suppose that's the angle Conway's team

was looking at. Besides, even if the focus wasn't on the kidnapping, it's still there--the man is clearly unsuited for office.

11. It's the stealth attack on atheists that pisses me off
It's basically saying anyone not a Christian can't hold public office. But, according to DU, that's a perfectly acceptable thing to say, so long as it wins an election.

13. Remember the Smear Boaters for Bush against Kerry? The 'White Women" ad against Ford in TN?
Both utter bullshit. Both killers.

4. "to, essentially, cast Paul as a phony when it comes to Christian conservativism."
That's how this needs to be framed - he's a fraud.
