Palin Threatens Third Party
In an interview on Fox News, Sarah Palin suggested a third party could form out of the Tea Party movement.

Said Palin: "Some in the GOP -- it's their last shot. It's their last chance. We will lose faith, and we will be disappointed and disenchanted from them if they start straying from the bedrock principles... if they start straying, then why not a 3rd party?"

Go for it Sarah!--and I hope they nominate you.

But, in the case of the teabaggers, they'd take us back 100 years.

right-wing support would split, thus giving Democrats a big boost and higher chances to win subsequent elections. Go ahead Sarah.

If she ran as third party in 2012 and got some others to run for lower level offices, it would split the right-wing vote down the middle.

38. She Wants A Fat Check, Not The Presidency
Like Gingrich and Barbour, these jackholes know damn well that they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the presidency, so they tease in order to get higher speaking fees, book deals, Fox News Analyst gigs, think tank gigs, etc.

Sarah is in this for the money. If she really wanted the presidency, she would've stayed Governor of Alaska.

O'Donnell is most visibly transparent copy-cat moron, but there are others as well. This whole idea of sounding as stupid as humanly possible; and almost reveling in one's own total lack of qualifications to be SAYING anything about government let alone being taken seriously as a potential participant in the process, is nauseating.

I just hope whoever funds O'Donnell's inevitable "book" takes a goddamn bath and eats a ton of unsold copies...though sadly they won't...

42. If a true 3rd party is formed
We will have a democratic permanent majority in congress for many years to come. Americas political system is not set up to be favorable to 3rd party candidates, the creation of a legitimate far-right party would turn the GOP into a regional party not capable of winning general elections.

46. It's all rhetoric to divert attention from the fact that the Tea Party and GOP are one and the same
This kind of red meat is readily devoured by the Tea Party folks but it means nothing and Palin, as dumb as she is, knows it.

The GOP would collapse inside of 3 days if the wealthy corporate folks stopped funding it. Any attempt to break away from it would instantly fail because those corporate folks would not fund the third party. The same folks founded and funded the Tea party and created it in such a way that it would pose no threat to the Republican party.

It's fun to contemplate Caribou Barbie trying to create a third party but she is lying when she suggests any intention to go through with it in ANY circumstance.

49. but on the other hand,
they took what should have been a gimme seat in DE and handed it gift wrapped to the Democrats. Because of the tea party, NV, KY, AK are competitive Senate races where the Rs should be winning easily. Because of the tea party, long term R incumbents and political figures went down in the primary period, such as Mike Castle in DE, Bob Bennett in UT and Lisa Murkowski in AK. And you can't argue that the Rs didn't believe they had a chance to take over the Senate.

The tea party, IMNSHO, is a movement of extreme conservatives ginned up by Fox News and other conservative media and funded by corporate interests to give the impression that "the public" was upset with Obama thereby giving the conservative media something to cover. The teabaggers themselves are true believers interested only in ideological purity and pushing the Rs to the right. And if the movers and shakers founding and funding the tea party were interested in short term Republican electoral victory, they would not have supported Christine O'Donnell, or Sharron Angle, or Joe Miller over safely electable candidates.

However, the difference between the tea party and the RNC is that the RNC wants to win, while the tea party wants purity. (For example, I saw Erik Erickson, RW blogger, on CNN say this (or something like it) about Christine O'Donnell's upset of Mike Castle: "If winning means nominating someone like Mike Castle, then I don't want to win.")

I can't imagine the RNC likes the tea party that much right now. In 2012, if the RNC doesn't somehow kill off the tea party, I predict one of two things will happen. The first and more likely is that the tea party will have enough primary influence to nominate an unelectable extremist candidate (like Palin herself) over an RNC approved candidate, and that such tea party candidate will lose badly to Obama. The second possible result is that the RNC manages to nominate an establishment approved candidate (probably due to factioning within the tea party behind different candidates) and Sarah Palin, or any prominent teabagger, runs as a third party candidate on the strength of (if not corporate funds, which you can't count out) small donations from teabaggers themselves. The third party candidate siphons off enough republicans to hand Obama the election.

53. No question about it, I am in 100% agreement, but...
even with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, if you were one of the powers that be in the GOP (perish the thought, I know) in Feb/March 2009 with as low as the GOP had sunk after the 2008 elections and you had a choice of going with the Tea Party, knowing that they would cause the loss of 2-4 senate races but would bring the party back from the dead, what do you think you or most people (assuming the level of honesty & decency inherent in the GOP, i.e., none) would do given that choice. The Tea Party was definitely worth it for them.

1.Keep the GOP in the minority or preferably remove them from office because the overwhelming majority of them are puppets to large corporate special interests. Despite the rhetoric most politicians vote with their party. The core of the GOP = crony capitalism at the expense of the rest of the population.

2.Remove and replace Democrats who are or have become crony capitalists and large corporate puppets from office.

One is paramount and two is definitely desirable after one has been achieved.

I tell all politicians I will work to remove large corporate special interest puppets from office until I am dead.

54. Who cares
This is more important than sitting smugly in your chair espousing non intelligent pontifications:

Joe Biden;

I'm sorry I could not donate to By the People Fund because I donated my campaign contributions to Justin Coussoule so he can unseat and retire the General of the Republican party in the Ohio 8th district. You might know his name.. John Boehner.

Have another one John

I am curious as to why the Democratic Party is not focusing on defeating Mr. Boehner.

Perhaps it is because you are only interested in maintaining the 'status quo' and Mr. Boehner is actually a member of that club and you need to keep this 'boogie man' in office so you can use him to encourage other Americans to contribute to your coffers for the 2012 elections.

downwithtyranny blog

Tax cuts for the Rich YES

America's Downtown Blight

Joe are you and your By the People Fund staff stuck on STUPID??

Might I suggest that the White House encourage introducing a bill that sets the wages of Representatives and Senators equal to the 'minimum wage' and pay them only for the hours they are actually working for the people of the United States. Make them purchase their own health care policies instead of mooching off of the citizens of the United States.

I could go on but my time is devoted to the replacement of Blue Dog Democrats with honest hardworking Progressive Democrats like Justin Coussoule and to retire John Boehner from the House of Representatives through the elective process. Are you even aware that John Boehner refuses to publicly debate his opponent in this years election. I know why he feels he shouldn't since the DNC and the DCCC refuse to even acknowledge that Justin Coussoule is his opponent.

You can tell Barack that there is a movement in this country to replace those Blue Dog Democrats that he runs with with Real American Progressive Democrats. Can you hear the footsteps behind you? Those are the steps of Progressives marching to replace all of those in the House and Senate that are not interested in helping the people of this country and we will do it through the grassroots electoral process despite what you might think today.

Your New World Order Empire is going to fall Mr Biden. You are either with us or against us. We will turn the New World Order in to the new America's Boggie Man and when that happens your Empire will be replaced with the true Democratic Republic that was stolen from the citizens of the USA just after World War II.

Keep the faith and Don't stop thinking about tomorrow.
