Not that I trust these indexes particularly, but I doubt this will make the headlines as it does not fit with the meme.

These polls are so unreliable because they only capture a snapshot in time!

13. Looks like that data needs to be smoothed like a 3 day rolling avg
I don't see where they say anything indicating that was done.

14. They say they DO do a 3-day rolling avg:
"Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. The margin of sampling error-for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters--is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members..."

11. (R)assmussen is full of shit......as usual
He probably got a 58% rating with a +/- 9% margin for error, so then they did the - and got 49%.

20. Obama has only lost white voters
I'll keep saying it again and again, Obama's approval numbers are outstanding with all groups except whites, especially white males. Obama should realize that he is never going to attract white support, especially white males, so his policies better be geared towards the heart of the democratic party-blacks, hispanics, and disaffected whites (especially anti-war whites, pro-consumer),gays and feminists.

His poll numbers would be upwards of mid to upper 50% if he was able to attract the "hard core" progressives. Us anti-war, gay rights, pro-consumer Americans more than make up for the dying white man.

I was so happy when I heard him say that American's are tribal when voting. It lifted my heart because I think that he finally gets it. With over 90% black support, 70% hispanic, 50-50 asian, he only needs the "professional left" to do well.

24. So what? The post you responded to is right.
You can ignore what the polling shows and focus on rally if you want but it won't change things. Obama's disapproval comes from white people.

Hypothetical scenarios about elections with different demographics is meaningless.

The poster said, "Obama should realize that he is never going to attract white support"

He may not get a majority of white support, but he still can attract white voters.

28. He got enough support from white women and siphoned off enough white men to take
the election. White women are the key. If he can get and maintain a majority of white women and peel off just a few white men, he wins.

It's true with most Democrats.

White men are more likely to identify with the Republican Party or some other party other than Democrats.

that's a big jump for Rasmussen. This is very good news, if Rasmussen shows this much of a jump there has undeniably been a big dem surge.

34. These numbers bounce around a lot...
He was at 43% just the other day, and a few days before that he was at 49-50%. I'd have too see him at near 50% for several days to believe that any real trend is developing. Gallup is more or less the same way.
