Christine O'Donnell Says U.S. Hasn't Finished Job Of Fighting 'Soviets' In Afghanistan (VIDEO)

Christine O'Donnell Says U.S. Hasn't Finished Job Of Fighting 'Soviets' In Afghanistan (VIDEO)

Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell tonight totally confused the United States' history with Afghanistan when talking about the Obama administration's plan to withdraw troops from the country.

She complained that Obama and Democratic nominee Chis Coons are advocating something dangerous by proposing a drawdown of troops begin next summer.

"A random withdrawal, that he has said he supports, will simply embolden the terrorists to come after us even more, saying, 'I've chased away the superpower,'" O'Donnell said during a nationally televised debate hosted by CNN at the University of Delaware.

But her description of the United States' role in Afghanistan in the 1980s came out a bit garbled:

Well if you remember when we were fighting the Soviets over there in Afghanistan in the '80s and '90s, we did not finish the job, so now we have a responsibility to finish the job and if you are gonna make these politically correct statements that it's costing us too much money, you are threatening the security of our homeland. She also briefly confused Iraq and Afghanistan. Coons corrected her.

Asked if the country is more secure now than it was under President George W. Bush, Coons said "Yes" and O'Donnell said "No."

Watch the moment on Afghanistan:

2. She probably thinks that they're called Sunnis because they like sitting out in the sun too
DU, we need to get someone to ask her what the difference between a Sunni and a Shia is. Her answer will be hilarious, I guarantee it.

5. Cruel as it sounds, there's one more use for Ms. O'Donnell
She's finished, but in my opinion there's still enough time to turn her into the albatross of the whole miserable teabagger crop. Sharron Angle thinks she's "real", and Palin was all over her.

6. This is no laughing matter can you believe
this person won the nomination for the senate of the United States.
This person was endorsed by the tea bags, someone who probably doesn't even know one
provision of the constitution.

How can we as a country be so damn stupid. How could she get nominated. But then she is the tip of the iceberg of the type of people the tea bags and republicans want to vote for, to run this country. I just can not believe this, I can't I can't.

9. Yep it is truly scary. I am greatful though that it doesn't appear that she will go much further
unless it is Fox News.

7. O'Donnell is proof that
the Republicans' goal is to destroy this country.

They don't give a shit. They want power and they are willing to elect any dimwit puppet who will advance their greedy corporate/lunatic RW agenda.

12. The Soviets. The Soviets are still in Afghanistan.
And we're fighting them.

Ok.

I may duck out of this discussion early and catch the Dave Clark Five on Ed Sullivan.

14. There's this new movie called "E.T." that's just hitting the theaters. I don't think it'll be good
or all that popular.

Bank on it!

;)
