Coleman the GOP's Favorite for Minnesota Governor
Ugh. Just when you thought it was safe to call Minnesota a Coleman-free zone, the 'pugs are ready to resurrect him. Hopefully he'll decide not to run.

FWIW, it's Rasmussen... so take it with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are still plenty of MN Repugs who think this fraud is the answer to their prayers (after Michelle Bachmann, of course. haha)

>>>Half of Minnesota Republicans would back Republican former Sen. Norm Coleman, should he run for governor in 2010, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports conducted Nov. 10.

Coleman, who lost a seven-month recount battle to Democrat Al Franken for Minnesota's Senate seat, has not indicated that he intends to run. But if he does, he starts with a huge lead over the rest of the GOP field among likely voters, with 50 percent of the vote. In second, at 11 percent, is state Rep. Marty Seifert, who stepped down from his post as House minority leader to run for governor.

Seifert is followed by state Rep. Laura Brod, who received 5 percent of GOP support despite withdrawing from the race for medical reasons, and state Rep. Tom Emmer who came in at 1 percent. Seven percent of likely Republican voters supported another candidate and 26 percent remain unsure. The margin of error was 5.5 percent.

There is no clear favorite on the Democratic side, with Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton each garnering 30 percent of the Democratic electorate. State House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, was next with 8 percent followed by Matt Entenza, former state Rep. and minority leader from 2003 to 2006, at 6 percent.>>>

2. He already lost that race once
in a three way race he and Skip (Hubert the 3rd) Humphrey both lost to Jesse Ventura (who only got about 35% of the vote).

I have a headache after reading.

8. Mark Dayton Will Make an Excellent Governor
1. He has years of government service at both the federal level and the state level. He's headed state agencies. He knows how Minnesota government works and how it should work.
2. Minnesota is his home state. He's a native son. He cares about Minnesota and remembers what a great state it used to be and knows how to make it that way again.
3. He believes in the value of mass transit, including light rail, as an alternative to the car.
4. He believes that Minnesota needs a progressive tax system in which the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. This is very commendable, since he himself is no financial slouch.
5. He cares about others. He was instrumental in getting seniors to Canada for prescription drugs at prices they could afford. He also replaced a Braille laptop that had been stolen from a blind woman.
6. He's nice. Yes, folks, finally a politician with Minnesota Nice written all over him. Nice politician...sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? Yet with Mark Dayton, it rings true. What a great change this will be from the governors we've had in the last two decades.
7. He knows all about money. He was Minnesota State Auditor. He was President of an investment company. If anyone can get us out of the budget crisis, it's Mark Dayton.
8. He is appalled, as are most of us, about the current state of our educational system. There's currently no money left to put into education. Some schools have to go to a 4-day school week because there is no money. Classes are overcrowded. Higher education is becoming non-affordable. Fixing this is one of Dayton's top priorities.
9. He knows how to get jobs into Minnesota. He worked under Governor Rudy Perpich, who's mantra was "Jobs Jobs Jobs."
10. He knows that our roads and bridges are in terrible shape and knows that they need to be repaired. Minnesota used to have some of the best roads in the country. Now our roads are full of potholes and our bridges have become unsafe.
11. He knows that clean energy will help our environment and create jobs.
12. He's a caring, considerate, compassionate man. When's the last time we had someone like that in the Governor's chair? It's about time...
