Are we missing the obvious concerning the promotion of Sarah Palin?
Edited on Mon Nov-16-09 09:00 PM by Atman
I mean, seriously, any moran with an ounce of brains knows that Palin is an empty head. Nothing to bring to the table. Unless it's a poker table and the stakes are articles of clothing.

So why is she so hyped by the GOP? Might it be "the stupid vote?" Might the hope that all the 'Murkin-flag-do-rag wearin', Holocaust-banner-wielding, birth-certificate-damanding idiots in America might actually make up enough of a voter base to be worth courting? I mean, who the hell else is left? The stupid are left unrepresented. And a pretty figure like Palin offers them, uh...pretty. And, you know, she's someone you might actually let your spouse do on a drunken Friday at the trailer park. And she knows the general direction of Russia. I mean, hell, if you thought George W. Bush was a prez you could have a beer with, Palin is the candidate you could do Jager shots with, and later wind up in the hot tub.

Maybe it's a brilliant strategy.

2. Something tells me Sarah is going to have a lot to sell, come 2012.
Hell, wouldn't you want to command 20% of the vote, even if they are all screwballs and wingnuts? Man, you could command a pretty nice price for that.

23. 20% of the vote
is like nearly 50% of the Repuke party, and she's giving them the red meat they need to keep the faith for another year or so while she postpones announcing for the Rethug nomination.

I figure she is going to wind up with ten or twenty million in seed money from this book, that will be her grubstake to go for the big prize.

Bottom line, if President Obama succeeds, she is just the sacrificial lamb for 2012, but if he is seen to be a failure, then we will be stuck with President Palin for four years. Do everything you can to help him succeed.

If the asshole media could keep der Pretzelkönig in power for 8, they can do at least as much for die Elchkönigin (Moose queen).

29. She'll run. But....
not as a Republican. She'll be a third party candidate. Maybe the Tea Party Party. Assuming they grow past Florida. If not them, some other similar party that will give the crazies voice.

31. Third party is a viable option only for those who think of the Presidency
as an entry level political job, such as Pat Buchanan. You might make a name for yourself as a Ross Perot, but unless you've got his money, you have no chance of winning a single state.

She really has a clear path in the Rethug party, while the country-clubbers aren't fond of her, they'd be happy to have her to undo President Obama's legislation. The fundies love her, and they'll never vote for Mittens Romney in either a primary or a general election.

6. The thinking around our house is that she has an IQ of about 105...
Smart enough to dress herself -- no, wait, McCain's handlers didn't even think she could do that.

She's also just staggeringly tone-deaf. She tells Oprah that her father says she's "not retreating but reloading"??? I guess she's already forgotten about those brave American men and women, our troops and civilian also, who were killed at Ft. Hood by a domestic terrorist who stopped to reload more than once.

Arrrggghhh!

19. They're going to vote Republican anyway...
Even if Palin doesn't run. And if she decides to run as a third party, they'll abandon the Republican Party for her and Palin will syphon off a good chunk of potential votes.

In other races? Pfft. We saw how her star power helped that Hoffman in New York. Hell, even McConnell didn't want her support in the Virginia race.

They can if they bring enough money.
And if ALL 20% show up on election day. Don't forget - we don't have anywhere near 100% turnout. That means that if the right (or wrong) 20% all gets out there and votes, it can turn into 40% in a hurry.

14. But why is is the GOP-controlled media so willing to give her the free air time?
She is a non-story. And if there WAS an actual story, it would be about how such a vacuous scatterbrain could be even considered as a serious political contender for ANY national office. But no -- they're treating her the way her people on the right tell Obama NOT to treat the leader of Iran, etc. That is, if you give them a stage and give them a forum you are legitimizing them.

Not sure if you mean Fox or the press in general ... but the reason THEY are giving her so much attention is THEY are trying to make money too.

Sure, she's a puddin' head but she's good TV. And good TV = cash.

16. Not a fair comparison -- Oprah actually MAKES billions.
Whereas Oprah actually brings in huge amounts of money and helps with cash flow, Sarah is a loss leader. They've chosen to take a beating now and if it works out, they'll make their money on the back-end -- the 2012 election.

She is nothing but a placeholder while the GOP desperately attempts to redefines itself. When the time is right she will step aside and deliver the base as tasked, but with drama.
