Who do you think Obama will choose to replace him? Joseph Stiglitz? Paul Krugman? James Galbraith? Or some market-fundamentalist name you've never heard of?

Hmmmm . . . the suspense is killing me.

1. Oooh! Obama! You told a fib!!!
.... or a white lie perhaps?

Monday - "I have not made any determinations about personnel,"

That's actually pretty funny.

3. I thought they had asked him if he plans on replacing anyone.
As in firing anyone for someone else. I thought that's what he was answering.

2. I think Krugman was offered and said he didn't want a seat.
That's why you shouldn't waste your time on wanting him. He was against it. I don't know if he changed his mind now...but he didn't want it then.

4. You're missing the point. I'm asking will Obama replace a market fundamentalist
with someone who will represent the economic interests of the common man, or will he replace him with someone who represents the interests of the top 5%? I'm saying (via sarcasm) that he'll replace him with someone who represents the the top 5%, based on his record.

If Krugman declined a seat, I'd like to see a link. Because I doubt it. Would like to see where Stiglitz and Galbraith also declined seats. Please show links. Thanks.

5. No, I got your point and I don' t know.
However, one of the people you mentioned is definitely a no. Not to mention I don't know if many of the professors will get the job. He wants people who are experienced with the market---as in participated and worked for in the field. None of those people have---they are economist and mainly work on conjecture and theory. He wants people with an in. It's actually a logical proposal.

6. All economists are theorists. "Experience" is merely showing allegiance to
an economic class. If Krugman was offered a position I'd like to see a link. Krugman was passed over by Bill Clinton in favor of Stiglitz. I think this is why Krugman favored Hillary in the primary, because he was promised the position. Doesn't matter. What will Obama choose? I think he'll choose the no-name market fundamentalist, to please his corporate masters. Would like to believe I'm wrong. Please prove it to me.
Thanks.

7. On an otherwise noxious day
with the Defense Appropriation Bill, this is great news. I hope Geitner is not far behind and that Barack appoints 2 people who will work enthusiastically with Elizabeth Warren. In my heart of hearts, I'd like to think her appointment was the final straw for Summers.

:nopity:

8. How about Ravi Batra?
We can only dream! Perhaps we can sell him on the idea of killing two birds with one stone.

Would really rally the base a lot more. But it also perhaps could help Obama deflect the "Muslim conspiracy" thing too. If he was really a "Muslim", then why would he be appointing a cabinet member guided by the Hindu beliefs of Sarkar with Indian heritage? Surely a "fanatic Muslim" as they depict him wouldn't do that, would he?

9. It would be nice if he'd boot Geitner too and invite Robert Reich in to clean up. nt
