Miami Herald: Greer apologizes to Obama, calls many GOPers 'racist'

Greer apologizes to Obama, calls many GOPers 'racist'

One year ago, when President Barack Obama gave his first back-to-school speech to the nation's schoolchildren, then-chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, accused him of using "taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."

Now, Greer is facing fraud and money laundering charges and has been thrown under the bus by the state GOP, which has accused him of living the high life on party money. And so he's had a change of heart.

"In the year since I issued a prepared statement regarding President Obama speaking to the nation's schoolchildren, I have learned a great deal about the party I so deeply loved and served,'' Greer said in a written statement. "Unfortunately, I found that many within the GOP have racist views and I apologize to the President for my opposition to his speech last year and my efforts to placate the extremists who dominate our party today. My children and I look forward to the presiden't speech."

This is Florida politics. Among the worst crooks, you will find people who are not loyal to any party. That's why it's impossible for a common person to see justice. These people are in cahoots with each other, making deals and shutting down the FDLE and State Attorney Office. And the lawyers that represent our local governments are damn right crooked. As long as they can provide people with deep pockets at meet and greets, they get away with anything.

You are going to find the worst of them looking for photo opportunities with black-American related issues. I've already seen two lawyers with horrible Republican pasts take advantage of this PR move.

5. This guy was the most important republican in Florida
This should be big news. This guy was the chairman of the republican party and he is now admitting that many people within his party hold racist beliefs. Can you imagine what the media would do if the chairman of the democratic party from any state came out and said that democrats he knew held racist beliefs? This is crazy, people should be talking about this.

6. Yep. Expect the worst of the GOP to go running under the skirts of Democrats.
God, people. Please tell me you're not falling for this. Crist is a toehold for a lot of Republicans who have fallen from grace. There is so much graft that can be uncovered if you don't fall for this shit.

9. This is weird..just because he' s accused of
of these crimes is no reason he should feel compelled to do a 180 on President Obama's education speech!

So when is Obama's speech this year? I'm sure many other gopricks will take up his slack.
