Schakowsky endorses Giannoulias
Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) has jumped on the Alexi Giannoulias bandwagon, breaking her neutrality in the contested Illinois Senate primary.

"Alexi Giannoulias is the best candidate to retain President Obama's seat because he has the courage to take on powerful interests and stand up for Illinois families," Schakowsky said in a statement.

The endorsement will help Giannoulias as he courts Schakowsky’s constituency of affluent, progressive voters on Chicago’s North Shore. His primary challenger, former Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman, has been making a play for that demographic with a reform-centric, good government campaign message.

Schakowsky is the fifth member of the state's Congressional delegation to endorse Giannoulias. He’s also been backed by Reps. Mike Quigley, Luis Gutierrez, Phil Hare, and Bill Foster.

1. So I guess it's all over?
I shouldn't throw my time or money away on Hoffman? Those good-government types with the impeccable academic and legal pedigrees never win. I was sort of hoping for a real race. Or at least the semblance of one.

8. Where does his family come from? A mobbed up bank.
He worked there.

And the whole Rezko thing. And the fact that he gives people with any sense the creeps, just like Blago.

So yes, the accusation stands.

And the fact he is a complete jackass interpersonally. Loudmouth drunk.

You're making accusations with nothing to back it up.

11. You're playing fast and loose with the facts
Seriously, this is as bad as the bullshit linking Rezko and Obama.

His family's bank FORECLOSED on loans held by two companies where a couple of the owners were convicted bookies.

His family's bank cannot be held accountable for the actions of two men who committed crimes after getting a loan from the bank. In fact, if anything, these guys gave fraudulent information in the loan applications and the bank was a victim!

6. Giannoulias has proven he can win state-wide.
This will be tightest Senate election in Illinois in more than a decade, there is a very good chance the "moderate" Kirk will prevail, especially if the wind is at the back of Republicans nationally that night.
