Bush thinks that history will be kind to him
WASHINGTON — Seven years ago, then-President George W. Bush stood beneath a banner on an aircraft carrier and declared that “major combat operations” in Iraq had ended. Wednesday, they actually did — and, by design, Bush was nowhere to be seen.

It was a moment of political closure brought to us not by Bush, but by his successor, who delivered on a campaign promise that was the original seed from which his campaign for president grew.

As a candidate, Barack Obama vowed to end the “war” in Iraq. And though troops will remain, skirmishes will continue, and there’s no guarantee that the age-old sectarian forces in Mesopotamia won’t resume their bloody rivalry — Bush’s war is over.

Bush thinks that history will be kind to him, but that is unlikely. The war cost America more than 4,000 lives, at least a trillion dollars, and a serious loss of world esteem. And it left behind a country with no ruling government and an ever stronger Iran.

"the former president is enjoying a mini-moment of grudging acceptance, if not affection" REALLY????

4. The author of the article IS Howard Fineman
That might account for something in the way the article is slanted.

5. Proving yet again ...
... what a complete idiot he is.

Seriously. How the hell did this country elect him again? TWICE? (I know, not really, but still. Sigh.)

9. "Bwaaaa ha ha ha ha ha." - Long-suffering Americans
No doubt other Chickenhawk Republicon Homelanders will look back fondly upon xCommander AWOL -- for he embodies their values of greed, avoidance of responsibility, and cluelessness leading to FAIL.

But no American will remember his disasterous stolen reign kindly. Not a one.

23. Was Ronald Reagen a great president?
Sorry, it IS going to happen ...

Reagen was a sadly mediocre president ...

The Rs have spent the last two decades spewing about how GREAT he is, he has an airport named after him, they want his face on paper money ... They do what they do, ignor reality and spew their false reality, and the MSM does not challenge it ...

Reagen is now a great president ...

Now, Bush was so bad they can't remake him as great ...

But, they already have set the tone to how they are going to cast him - a resolute man of his convictions who suffered from events that no other president had to deal with, and kept the country safe ...

20 years from now he will NOT been cast as a bad president ...

History WILL be "kind" to him, because republicans, with the help of the the MSM distort CURRENT times, they sure as heck distort history to how they want it ... Again, he was too bad to get Reagenized, but they WILL spin the little clown in a positive manner that belies just how great of a distaster his presidency was ...

15. Look likes it's working. The Republicans--aided by the complicity of the M$M--
have successfully rewritten history by blaming Obama for our economic woes.

Though more people know that the economic conditions were the result of Bush/Republican policies, far greater numbers wrongly believe that TARP was Obama's idea. Far too many people are willing to put Republicans back into office after everything we've been through.

The problem is as long as there is a high unemployment rate and a foreclosure crisis--fair or unfair--Americans blame the party in power.

It is a sad reality how stupid the average American is. The Republican Party will be rewarded for doing absolutely NOTHING but peddle lies, obstruct legislation, and sow division with their hateful rhetoric and inciteful language. And it works! It really works!!

16. Recent polls say most americans want afgan
war over and done with and us out...for anti war reasons, for financial reasons, for many reasons...

Bush created all that and lead a admin that made Nixon look like an angel...

Even my older daughter that voted for him once thinks he's awful now and voted for Obama last time.

19. History,Kind,and George W. Bush will not be in the same sentence
as long as right-winged revisionist history is stopped dead in it's tracks and even then history wouldn't be kind to him. In fact I am sure scholars looking back 100 years from now will label W. the worst president in history.

24. It is incredibly difficult for anyone who is universally considered
the worst president ever to rise from that station of failure. Virtually everything bush did brought this country to brink of disaster. History will be kind to him if it mentions that he wasn't driven from the White House in a septic cleaning truck.
