I see all these threads lamenting President Obama's low approval numbers and they are lamentable. As long as the economy doesn't improve look for his numbers and the party's numbers to lag.
1. The economy stinks. People aren't paying attention. I'm surprised his numbers aren't lower.
I haven't been on DU for a couple days. Been working hard and not paying attention to politics (like 90% of America). Obama is doing fine. The economy stinks so if you're asked if you approve of Obama's performance, you might just have a reason to say no. Nobody is going to swap him out with whoever the Rs put up though. The majority isn't that crazy.
3. Yup..i recall way back when he was at 80% when someone said his #s will fall as the economy worsens
And showed stats and graphs showing that when the economy improved the pres. #s jumped too. So his approval #s are expected. What i dont like is that the President isn't quite left as i like. He still sees the right and special interests as important people to appease to, not the left. Sure we will still vote democrat but the motivation is lost and turn out might suffer...that is the real danger in those poll #s.
